Clarke does not seem to have a scoob about what is his first choice defence.  First he gives McKenna the captaincy

Nah.  McKenna was captain once, in a friendly against Mexico under McLeish.

However, the guidelines that were put in place to allow football to return and be played are much stricter than the usual club guidelines. For 8 players to ignore these guidelines is inexcusable, indefensible and utterly astounding.

I've seen a lot of references to these guidelines elsewhere, but no real detail.  Do you have any details?  Eg. are footballers actually prohibited from going to the pub or otherwise held to a more strict set of laws than the rest of us?

  3. The closests the UK government has ever come to ordering military action on UK citizens was January 1919 in Glasgow.

'It really encapsulates the frustration of a Sunday, doesn't it? You wake up in the morning, you've got to read all the Sunday papers, the kids are running round, you've got to mow the lawn, wash the car, and you think "Sunday, bloody Sunday!".'

  4. Mikey Devlin might rightly be denied appearance money and a potential win/ and/or any other bonus as a result of this decision.

Hypothetically, I suppose Mikey could go to the small claims court for loss of earnings but as well as being pretty fucking funny, it would be a civil action rather than criminal (I think.  I did study law for a bit but I was mostly off my tits at the time).

It's a shite decision by a bunch of incompetent, and probably biased, dicks.  As happens inside and outside workplaces across the world every minute of every day.  Thon fat cunt in the bin lorry never faced criminal charges and he killed six folk (probably not a good comparison TBH).

  5. That said, it wasn't too many years ago that a golf wank asked me why I wasn't wearing a collar, at Portlethen* golf course.

TBF I was seething the other day when I spotted some c*nt wearing a Liverpool shirt on the course.  Mind you, it's Norway, there's some c*nt in a Liverpool shirt pretty much everywhere.

One-off rounds in places like Porty can be a rip-aff, but if you're playing regularly, it can be great value in the north east - 250 quid to join Huntly as a new member.  I suppose the beauty of golf in Scotland, the sheer quantity of courses, can be a weakness in tough times.  Every wee village has a club, sometimes in places so wee that it's the only licenced premises.  It's a real shame if they end up shutting down.
