I think there is a bug in the countdown to the next kickoff that displays at the top of the site.

It appears to be based on the local time of the viewer, rather than the time in Scotland.

So, for example, if it's 3 hours until kickoff and I view the site in ET timezone (GMT-5), it shows 8 hours until kickoff.

Could you check if it has changed? - I've updated it to take the local time from the European / London clock server

You can subscribe to an auto-updating Aberdeen fixture list via the Subscribe feature on DonsTalk.

All you need to do is go to the Events menu, click on Subscribe and select Subscribe to iCalendar feed - then follow the instructions on your computer, smartphone or tablet.

All Aberdeen fixtures are available including friendlies, and when available European, Scottish League and Scottish Cup matches will be added and your calendar will update these fixtures on your device automatically.

If any fixtures change (date/time), these will also update automatically on your fixture calendar.

All fixtures will also appear on the main DonsTalk homepage.

The rescheduled postponed fixtures from last year have been updated on the auto-updating fixture list.

  3. The following changes have taken place effective Saturday 14 October 2023.

    The following forums:

    • Music, Games and Movies
    • AFC Buy and Sell

Have been moved into the Off Topic forum.

The Supporters Club section has been removed as most supporters clubs are now using Facebook or WhatsApp.

  4. From Saturday 9 September 2023 at 3pm, the way you sign into DonsTalk will change.

You will no longer be able to login using your username.

Instead you will need to sign in using your registered email address with your existing password.

Logging in by username represents a security weakness for the DonsTalk community because display names are public information and malicious users may attempt to login to multiple accounts with common passwords until they find an account for which the passwords work.

The forum software we use will soon remove the ability for users to login using your username - so we are acting now during the international break so you are ready for the remainder of the season.

  6. You might have switched the view by accident.

On the homepage, look for the lines at the top of the forum categories, and change it to the lines option like below:

  10. Just an update on this.  It's never simple!

It is legal to embed the content, as the content is not hosted by the site.  The owner of the copyright material has the option to prevent embedding of content when uploading their content to YouTube - so it is the responsibility of the content owner to ensure that any restrictions they wish to place on their content, that they do that.

Ideally if you wish to post content from YouTube, that you only provide the link / URL to the content.  and provide the original author and resource location credit, e.g SPFL via YouTube

It is against copyright laws to embed an infringing YouTube video in the forum, ie content not posted by the SPFL on YouTube.  Such video is also not legal on YouTube.

The YouTube terms of service says the following:

    Quote

    Licence to Other Users

You also grant each other user of the Service a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to access your Content through the Service, and to use that Content (including to reproduce, distribute, modify, display, and perform it) only as enabled by a feature of the Service.

This clearly states that the owner of the video grants a limited license to embed the video simply by leaving the embed option on (which is part of the functionality if enabled by a feature of the YouTube Service).

So if you have tried registering for a new account, or didn't receive your registration validation email - try registering again and you will get an email to validate your account.
