Kowalski Posted 15 hours ago Report Posted 15 hours ago McTominay not in the game tonight. Ferguson doing all the heavy lifting in midfield. Quote
irnbru1903 Posted 14 hours ago Report Posted 14 hours ago Too little, too late. We should be used to the familiar stench of failure by now and yet the promises of something different had us hoodwinked. Quote
swaddon Posted 14 hours ago Report Posted 14 hours ago After that start, I would have taken a 0-1 defeat over a battering. Still got it all to do on Wednesday, though. 1 Quote
irnbru1903 Posted 14 hours ago Report Posted 14 hours ago We'll be coming, we'll be coming, we'll be coming home on Thursday.... We (Clarke) haven't got the stones to do anything else. Zero shots on target FFS. I get enough of that during the regular season. Quote
Jupiter Posted 14 hours ago Report Posted 14 hours ago Clarke should have been fired after the last euros. We’re only at the World Cup because Denmark couldn’t beat Belarus. 1 Quote

Scotland have had far better squads and managers over the years and failed to qualify from the group stages. It's what we do. We can still qualify from the groups yet though. RicoS321 Posted 6 hours ago Author Report Posted 6 hours ago Just up. That wasn't a terrible performance against a good team in the end. The 4-1-4-1 was probably the right call, with Ferguson excellent in the holding role. Felt a bit sorry for Hanley, he justified his selection the other night but he was just caught short at the start despite an otherwise solid performance. Henry was very good alongside him. Subs made an impact, with Gannon Doak and McLean doing very well, and we probably had enough pressure to maybe sneak a goal. McGinn was honking, and McTominay not significantly better, similar to the first game. I thought the ref was very good, let the game flow. Scotland, in particular, were throwing themselves to the ground at every opportunity, and he bought none of it. It's why VAR was right not to intervene on the McTominay incident. It would have been re-reffing. McTominay let his legs crumble a little and I'm fairly certain the ref got a view of that in real time, with the decision completely in line with the way he'd handled the rest of the game. The folk who wanted VAR, and then told us that VAR should intervene only when it's really clear and obvious, are obviously now the ones telling us that VAR should have intervened. We didn't deserve a point in the end, but at the same time didn't deserve a hiding, and 1-0 not a terrible result. With Brazil comfortably beating Haiti, there's a chance that they could take the foot off the pedal if Morocco aren't banging them in against Haiti. A -1 goal difference would likely see us through. irnbru1903 Posted 4 hours ago Report Posted 4 hours ago Apparently no team has gone through to the knockout stage as a third place team with one win and a negative goal difference. It won't start now. Our players have let themselves down and are delusional to say any different. They think they were unlucky but they weren't. They deserved what they got and were lucky it wasn't worse. Sure we did great to actually get there but what is the point when you don't even give it a go. Zero shots on target. Appalling first half showing. I appreciate Morocco are no mugs but it just stank of our Parkhead efforts. Quote
swaddon Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago It's a big ask for four third placed teams to have a worse record than us. Not impossible, but then being struck by lightning twice is not impossible. Quote
Goldie03 Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago Only 4 3rd placed teams drop out so we must have a chance Just have to draw with Brazil to make sure Quote

Appalling first half showing. I appreciate Morocco are no mugs but it just stank of our Parkhead efforts. This is the first time that this particular format has been used, so precedent doesn't apply. There's a good chance of going through on -1. Probably 50-50. Why are shots on target a measure of anything? Our goal was to try and get a point against the 8th best team in the world, whilst not getting pumped in the process. A fairly difficult balance. We restricted them to three shots on target if we're using that measure. Had we gone for it and lost 3-0, Clarke would have been getting slated. Our Parkhead performances are riddled with huge deficits, because they are miles better than us. The one time we beat them, in the cup final, was with a performance similar to Scotland's last night. Morris' deflected cross equivalent could easily have happened to one of Gannon Doak's efforts, or McTominay with his back to goal. Or we could have got lucky with a vociferous VAR team insisting on a pen. Edit: I forgot the most important part! We lost a goal after a minute. Any plans to be stuffy for the first 20 before building on it went out the window. The objective was to get to half time from that point on. Rest and regroup. They were very clearly stunned for the opening period. Edited 3 hours ago by RicoS321 Quote
Goldie03 Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago We apparently have at this monent a 73.5% shot at getting out of the group Make of that what you will 1 Quote
swaddon Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago If I were a betting man, I wouldn't be rushing to stick the mortgage on us being in the next round. Quote
