Premiership Survival Thread

I thought we could do with a thread to discuss our impending relegation (or survival).

I think we're doomed. I'm starting to come to terms with over 120 years of top flight football coming to an end.

Personally, I blame Scotland for qualifying for the World Cup, it set the world into a chaos spin. Hearts will win the league and we’re going down. What an absolute shitshow and I can’t believe any of the three are happening. But here we are.

It’s strange that recently there never seems to be a point where both Scotland and Aberdeen are doing well, only one or the other.

I think Hearts are going to bottle the league, their last two matches they have lost to Kilmarnock and drawn against Livi. They are one loss away from dropping off the top for the first time this season, and if they do their confidence will go.

Unfortunately relegation is looking likely for us at the moment. Both teams below us are in better form, and should we end up in a playoff it will be a battle. With fight sorely lacking in the team there isn’t much suggestion of being able to overcome this. Of course things can change quickly an unlikely win on Saturday might take us above Dundee, and confidence obviously plays a massive part. Hopefully Robinson has learned something about the squad (as he has suggested) from the past few games which helps us.

I read somewhere that 38 points is usually the threshold to avoid the relegation play off. So 2 wins and 2 draws in last 6 games is needed.

Taking 3 points off Livingston and Kilmarnock is crucial.

We can beat Livi and Kilmarnock - but not if we play the way we have been.

Clearly we can't fight and the few that can are small, older or injured.

A while without rain would help. Armstrong, Cameron and Keskinen can take players on and create but if the going is soft?

Typically, it's due to rain on Friday I notice.

Don't ask me why, but I don't think we will finish 11th and face a play off.

It'd take some run of from on their part, but Livi could still catch us.

A big part of me thinks we're fucked, but my head takes over and reminds me we will definitely find a way to scrape it.......if only through Killie being shitter for 6 games, the fan backing getting us valuable points at home against those below us (assuming the SFA don't decide to give us 5 away games and make up some very valid excuse why)

Genuinely believe, and have done for quite a while now even when the points difference was double what it currently is, that we are destined for 11th spot. I hope I'm wrong but there is nothing in our squad to suggest we can get any victories from our remaining games when hunger, drive, fight, steel etc. are what is required.

For me it comes down to the play off. We're home for the 2nd leg so we have to believe that of all the sell outs, and it's sure to be, that this is the one time the players actually respond positively to a full house.

The parallel that most concerns me is the Jooooot when they got relegated the year after a cup win, overseen by a foreign manager who got binned in favour of a journeyman the following season.

I think we've all got the relegation fear, but its based on our form rather than position.

Realistically it'll be via a play-off should it happen.

Fucking hell, this is shite.

Does BBC Sport have to run daily articles about the possibility of us being relegated?

It's almost as if they're rubbing their hands together with glee at the prospect.

Aye, but the difference between us and them is that their fans are a bunch of wallopers.

Of course they are.

Every team and media outlet in Scotland would take great pleasure in seeing us go down.

Only us and Celtic have never been relegated from the top flight. I chose to ignore the newco, pretend club in this argument.

Sevco have never been relegated. They've come through the leagues unscathed since forming in 2012.

I chose to ignore a club with no real history.

I don't feel they count towards any Scottish footballing history, so only us and Celtic never suffered relegation from the top flight.

It would be a big story, so much so you've started a new thread about the prospect so we can all talk about it, so can't blame the media for also talking about it.

Us going down would be bigger than when Hearts & Hibs went down.

As TDBTD said in response to this every Weegie controlled media source have set sail on this ship

From a slightly different angle, reckon there will be a few Championship club chairmen rubbing their hands at the prospect of the cash our travelling support will put in their coffers.

A winning Aberdeen team in that league will see us sell out every away ground.

Is there a confirmed date for the confirmation of  post split fixtures 🤔

If the recent Scottish Cup tie with Dunfermline is anything to go by, this shower will be lucky to make the playoffs in the Championship.

The relegation playoff, that is.

I did stop short of saying there was only one possible flaw in my statement

Suffice to say, you've got it right away 😉
