Has any of your group thought through the fact that a badly organised, badly pitched (if we win), half hearted attempt at a protest will have exactly the opposite effect to the one desired here ? I respect your right to do it but the odds are that this protest is unlikely to carry a significant amount of weight and substance, even if you get 100+ people out. If that happens then you will be reinforcing the club and management view that the dissenters in our support are a only a minority of ill-informed reactionaries. This will provide them with increased courage in their convictions and will allow them to continue to hide behind the idea that the 'real fans' who they meet 'on holiday' or in the streets are right behind the team. The club have very little history of reacting positively to such lightweight pressure groups and I suspect that you will find your protest will lead to further entrenchment of the management, exactly not what you are looking for I assume.

In addition you will further alienate the support from the club through increased media attention as they will be incapable of dissecting the support into factions who support or do not support your rabble. If any of your group have been at the last two games they will have witnessed a team who are shell-shocked and downtrodden and this division between fans and club will intensify that feeling. Regardless of your views of the management if you are a fan of the club you would at least try to look at how this is affecting the players on the park. They require support more than ever and I would suggest that there are better ways to express discontent than this option, letters, petitions whatever form it takes a well thought out written word with a volume of support is significantly more poignant than any half-jacked screaming protester.

Good post Ajja, i'm also worried that this protest goes badly wrong.

But this is where i stand - i've stopped going to away games recently after 10 years not missing games. I'm fucked off with Calderwood boring football and also with the standard of football overall. The scary thing for me is that the games i've missed i've not been that bothered.

Inverness will be my last game this season since i'm off to oz for awhile but i'm seriously considering not getting a season ticket, pick and choose my games and also stop going to away games. I would never ever see myself stop going to football but i've had enough. QOS sickened me but Dunfermline has made me worse. This is sad for me but i'm actually not bothered where we finish in the league, if we get europe fantastic although the fat cunt will still be there, if we don't then i think the board will sack him (i hope if not then thats me - had enough)

I hope this protest is a success that over 100 people will be there making their voices heard - i do hope some of you will join in too as this is not a afc-chat vs donstalk. Its about us JMG guys being heard imho. I don't think letters or petitions work that well although i'm sure willie miller mail bag was full after dunfermline game.

  2. Funnily enough no I don't have it yet. I may have to rectify that when I get home. I do have the first song though.

Of course I have played Chas n Dave. They were up for the vote.

    I have also played

Labi Siffre - I Got The Blues

which featured Chas n Dave as session musicians and was later sampled by eminem.

Lol - you can listen to the album from Sigur Ros website. I'm just giving it a blast just now - hope its as good as Bon Iver :)

  3. I bet you have played Chas and Dave though ;D - well the last listen had the pet shop boys and some annoying lassie voice singing girls just want to have fun - name escapes me funny enough. Anyway i like that piss take that the listeners have to pick the best tune out of two terrible records.

I don't think its a bad effort - think sweetchuck is correct is its not cheesy/catchy to really take off but nice effort.

Off topic slightly i presume you have got the new sigur ros album and listened online to it as well.

  4. Its actually nae that bad being honest - actually some will quite like it and obvious be a few negative comments but better than a few efforts i've heard recently. The guy posted it on pie and bovril site - see link to pie and bovril at the bottom if you want to contact him.

Nu Era - Aberdeen European Song 07-08

    Verse 1 (Qualifying)

The Dons came crashing back to Europe at the Meteor

It’s been five long years but now we’re back for more

Mackie’s bullet header took us to Group B

And reminded us of that final

    In 1983

    Chorus

Back into Europe, back where we belong

From the Granite City, Stand Free is our song

With Jimmy, Diamond, Smith and Miller to lead the way

    Manchester doesn’t

    Seem so far away

    Verse 2 (Group Stages)

Well you can keep your Greek Gods, Takis Fyssas too

You might have beat us 3-0 but you weren’t very good

Moscow brought the weather to Pittodrie

    1-1 the score

    still awaiting victory

We went out to the Madrid to face their second team

To play against their superstars it really was a dream

The dream turned into a nightmare on and off the park

And the table didn’t look good

    Barely off the mark

We had to win when Copenhagen came to town

Christiansen and Allback all had smiles turned into frowns

Jamie Smith stole the show with his wonder goals

You could have drove a Dave Bus

    Through their defensive holes

    Chorus -> Solo (Melody)

    Verse 3 (Munich)

We qualified from the Group of Death with Bayern next to play

25 years on and we’re out to repeat history

But Alex Ferguson and Willie Miller’s time has come and gone

    We now have new heroes

    To cheer on

We had no lead or cushion when we left for the Allianz

In the first leg our team shocked you, shocked even our own fans

The result in Munich came as no surprise

    The amazement being

    We got one in reply

    Verse 4 (Reflection)

The European adventure is over after all

We played in many countries, five in total

We played in eight matches, albeit winning only one

But we had fun in the the Marienplatz

    And the square in Sol

    Chorus (Altered) (x2)

Back into Europe back where we belong

From the Granite City, Stand Free is our Song

With Jimmy, Diamond, Smith and Miller to lead the way

    Manchester didn’t

    Seem so far away

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

If anyone has any questions about the song just ask.

    Meteor = Dnipro Stadium

Nightmare on and off the park = beaten 2-0 and cops beat Dons fans up (in Madrid) etc.

If anyone has accounts on Ab Mad, AFC Chat and Red Ultras please spread the word and give me feedback. Much appreciated. Stand free!

  5. Looks like a positive signing. Hope he can replace Nicholson which is not an easy job considering how great Nicholson has been. But good to see us being one of the first clubs in SPL to sign someone with a bit of experience in SPL.

Bernard on his day was a great midfielder but didn't produce it enough.

  6. I think Derek has done well for us this season, and lets be honest Darren is a lot more talented than Derek. I'm not surprised that Darren is coming to us - i'll be more surprised if he doesn't!!!! With Darren Young i think he could do a good job for us but my main concern is he is always injured!!!!

  7. Will be on the train north so will miss this. Might be sad and v+ it.

Aye might do the same as i might have a few things to do tomorrow

McRobbie is a talent, i remember watching the U19's at the start of the season against Montrose and watching this kid come off the bench and watching him beat a few players. He's progressed and now is starting upfront for the U19's, needs to build up a bit though but hopefully progress in the next few years.

Maguire is a talent in the U19's, i've seen him single handly destroy teams but first team Jimmy has put him on the wing and he can't play there. Glad to see him get a few starts upfront and score a few but my main concern with him is he's need to build up as well and also goes about town thinking he's a superstar when he's achieve nothing yet.

  8. AFC Player of the season: Derek Young!!!! did i really say that??? wow!!!!

AFC Goal of the season: Jamie Smith 1st goal against FC Copenhagen

Bounce of the season: Jamie Smith 2nd goal of the season

Game of the season: Aberdeen vs FC Copenhagen

AFC Cunt Award (who at the club is the biggest cunt?): Calderwood/McNamara

    And in other catagories

SPL Cunt of the season: Novo

SPL Shitest player of the season: Broadfoot

Best grub award: Eating cheating ;)

Best away boozer: Motherwell or Hibs Social Club

Now am I the only person that thinks his consistency has been crap? Scored 11 goals in 46 appearances this season and most of them were in the league around Christmas time.

The only thing he consistently does is fall over at the slightest hint of a challenge.

Feel that Miller was a disgrace his performance's until Brewster left and then for 2 months his performance was excellent. After that apart from TV games his effort and Performance has been back to terrible. Really don't give a shit if he signs or not - no doubting his ability but he is one that i question if he is giving 100% and sadly i don't think he is.

  10. You could well be right there. Think McAuley's playing for Dumbarton (or someone down that way) whilst studying for a degree. He's obviously one of those "funny types" (like Lovell), and not a gallus young chap like that great white hope Maguire.

    He is playing for Alloa

  11. No real loss to be honest. We have plenty other players who will run about for 90 minutes and contribute the square route of fuck all. Hopefully Youngs absence means JC will have less opportunity to tinker with the team and we might actually stick with same team for two games in a row.

As much as i don't rate young he's been one of our best players this season (say's a lot). Would have him in the midfield before an uninterested Severin anyday even though he hasn't talent.

  12. Ahh information for my crowd predictor

Not going, dont want to. Will be crawling out of bed with a hangover and going to watch it in the pub with the gang. Hopefully will not be as embarrassing as the last time.

Never trust the EE when it comes to crowd figures!!!! It seems to add on 2,000 extra normally.

Got my ticket through the website - no doubt when i go to collect it, it will said i didn't purchase it!!!
