Im hoping that he is just saying that to get half a performance out of him.

He'll tell him wants he wants to hear to try and motivate the team captain to ensure our SPL survival - can't understand why the captain needs to be petted - then, once we're safe, he can tell Kerr to pack his bags and try his luck elsewhere!
