  1. They do look really stupid in section Y, but they should never really have been moved there. It really fucking annoys me that the club have completely stifled what they do, but still use pictures of their displays to advertise the club. Total double standards from AFC.

I could care less about the existence of the Ultras (The atmos at Pittodrie has not changed since they appeared IMO)  but the club have been utterly self serving in the way they've treated them.

So is it the club that moved them there rather than them moving there out of protest at not being allowed to move into the merkie in an attempt to create a 'Shed End'?

We'd heard that they proposed that the singing section be moved to the merkie and the family stand move to the RDS in an attempt to harness a better atmosphere, not a bad shout in all fairness but could all be shit.

  2. The late Dundee United chairman Eddie Thompson threw half of his personal wealth at trying to rebuild the Tannadice club, and while a fair chunk of that money was spent unwisely, he understood that personal commitment went with the territory of being chairman.

    Absolutely bang on.

It's odd that the club mysteriously seems to find the money to pay off contracts of their current management team at their caprice followed by compensation for other clubs managers.  However, when it comes to players, there's nae a biscuit tin to be found.

Eddie Thomson's strategy may have been a bit extreme but what SM doesn't seem to realise is that he could make himself an overnight hero by investing just 1% of his personal wealth into the club, 2% and I'd carry him to the games on my own back.

The club appear to constantly put the cart before the horse and demand the support of the fans to improve the product on the park.  I say put the product on the pitch first and save your breath asking.

    Over and out.

  3. Awww! Someone deleted Slowclaps post. I was going to suggest Derek Young had perhaps found a use.

Ach jeez...I've posted worse you know but alas yes, I can see the headline now "Deek Young, catalyst for the Dons title triumph"....actually I can't, I'd make a pish journalist.  MMG.

  4. The plot thickens:

Spokesperson of the football federation, Ademola Olajire, informed NEXTSports on Wednesday afternoon that the Scottish club is not in touch with the Nigerian FA.

“There has not been any contact between us and them,†Olajire said. “I have been reading articles on the internet stating that they have been in contact with us but that is not true.

“The young man wants to go to the junior World Cup and they refused. Even if the boy hasn’t gone AWOL, I believe there are still other players capable of making the team but he wants to go and he has taken the matter into his own hands.â€

    A strong desire

In a telephone interview with NEXTSports, Aluko said his club has not taken his desire to represent Nigeria into consideration The player, who declined to disclose his location, said he feels his purported injury has been blown out of proportion by the press and that he is capable of playing at the junior World Cup with the Flying Eagles.

“The situation is not as bad as has been reported,†he said. “I feel good and am ready to join the team. “I want to play at the World Cup and I just want my wish to be respected.â€

Aye, Aluko, that's fine but in the style of Columbo....one last thing, who pays your wages you little shit?  Now get your fucking arse back here, pronto.

Pfffft, Nigeria.  Wouldnae huv happened in my day.

  5. What are the chances of Trump 'investing', say, £5 million in the club? As the article suggests, a move like that could win him some local favour.

Should Milne/Miller be taking him out for some expensive dinners to try and coax some investment from him, or should they at least make an attempt at communication? Or is that a bit desperate?

Maybe if we charge Trump about £10 million, we could rename Pittodrie the 'Donald Trump Soccerplex' or something like that? I know foregn investrs in football clubs get a bad press, and things can sometimes goa  bit wrong, but surely with Milne's business sense we could make something work?

What I'm  really getting at here is that I want enough investment in the club to be able to sign Florent Sinima Pongolle.

    :lolabove:

Possibly the most fucking stupid post ever.  Now, you're either out for a fish or on drugs if you think that one of the most successful businessmen in the world would consider £10m into Aberdeen as a good investment.

  6. McGhee steps up rebuild as humiliation is completed

heaviest aggregate defeat since gers were cuffed 12-4 by frankfurt in 1960

    By MICHAEL GANNON in olomouc

HE CAN’T LOOK: Mark McGhee takes the strain in the Czech Republic last night as Aberdeen lose three goals before half-time

    More Pictures

Aberdeen manager Mark McGhee will hasten his rebuilding campaign after the European humiliation was completed by Sigma Olomouc in the Czech Republic last night.

The Czech side cruised to a comfortable 3-0 victory in the Andruv Stadium to inflict an 8-1 aggregate defeat on the Dons, the heaviest aggregate loss for a Scottish club since Rangers went down 12-4 to Eintracht Frankfurt in the European Cup semi-finals in 1960.

Aberdeen were picked off with ease as Sigma grabbed three first-half goals – through Tomas Janotka, Marek Kascak and Michal Hubnik – and then threatened to run riot in the second period.

McGhee felt some relief that his men are finally out of their Euro misery and his focus is now on strengthening his squad ahead of the SPL kick-off against Celtic at Pittodrie tomorrow week.

His first act will be to give trials to former Hibs midfielder Craig Rowcastle and former Tottenham and Wolves forward Rohan Ricketts. The pair will play for Aberdeen in Sunday's Dean Windass testimonial against Hull City.

Ricketts spent last season in the MLS with Toronto under manager Maurice Johnston, scoring four goals in 39 appearances, but the 26-year-old was released and has returned to the UK. Rocastle, who made 13 appearances on loan at Hibs in 2004, spent last term with Greek side Thrasivoulos Filis and has also performed for Sheffield Wednesday, Oldham and Port Vale in a much-travelled career.

McGhee said: “We are getting closer. We will have a look at these two players on Sunday. The two of them have been around the English leagues and have experience. Ricketts has been playing in the United States with Toronto. He is a lively forward and while some have questioned his workrate, he has ability. Everyone knows Craig from his Hibs days, where he did quite well."

McGhee's side was humbled again last night but the manager was hindered by injuries to a threadbare squad.

Defender Zander Diamond was absent with an achillies injury and midfielder Stuart Duff was conscripted as a makeshift centre back, as he was in last week's first leg.

Duff refused to make any excuses for the dire performances.

He said: “I am not happy about the whole performance over the two legs and the players have got a lot to improve on.

“It is difficult and hard to take. People looked at the first leg and thought the tie was over but we came here thinking there was nothing to lose.

“You can tell from the supporters' reaction they are not too pleased. They paid good money to come over here to see a below-par performance.

“The people at Pittodrie would not have got their money’s worth. I can understand their frustration."

“I was nice to hear the manager being complimentary but it would be nice to play in a settled position.

“It was not too bad playing there but eight goals over two legs does not make good reading."

Didn't the huns go down 8-1 to Juve over 2 legs??  I'm making absolutely no point here, just an observation.  I remember it well, in the broomloan stand, not a dons shirt in sight but 1000's of Juve tops....One Del Peiro!! haha.  Get it right up ye's!

  7. I would bet my hoose that if JC was still here with the same players at his disposal that we wouldnae have been horsed 5-1, would probably have been a boring, stifling 0-0 draw though...

Correct.  Also, if JC had played that defence we'd be tearing strips off him for a week.  Duff at centre half and Young at right back?  Give me a fucking break.

  8. Exeter fans fund striker signing

Exeter City fans have helped sign striker James Norwood after pledging to pay his wages.

The 19-year-old former England Schools frontman has been on trial with the Grecians in recent weeks and was officially signed on Sunday.

A branch of the Exeter City Supporters' Trust created a fund with the specific intention of signing players.

Members of the '19/31 Fund' will each pay £19 per month towards the cost of Norwood's wages.

Norwood previously plied his trade at Eastbourne Town.

The striker scored 96 goals in 54 games for both Eastbourne and England Schools and is highly rated by Exeter manager, Paul Tisdale.

He told the club's website: "It's a great opportunity for James, both to develop as a footballer at Exeter and to feed off the enthusiasm and support of those fans."

The Exeter City Supporters' Trust has been the club's majority shareholder for the past six years.

I wonder how many dons fans would agree to this if it meant securing the services of a class act we otherwise couldn't afford?  Also, I imagine the player would at least feel the compelled to score more than 50 goals in 10 seasons...

  9. Off topic I know but last night I dreamt that I was part of a real life Saw film and that Paul Jewell of all people was Jigsaw. Believe me - it was one fucked up dream/nightmare. It concluded with me shopping in Tesco

The other night I dreamt about my mates bird....she had fried eggs on her chebs.....so what, I like fried eggs! ;D

  10. Absolutely.  I've seen the same players in those eras as you Reekie and I swear Bossu is one of the worst. In fact, I'm struggling to think of any who had such a monumentally negative impact as he had that night.

Jackie Mack at hampden against QoS....easy...in fact, that was so bad, I don't think I'll ever get over it.  The boy was an absolute joke, so bad I'll be reciting the story to my great grandson as he passes me a werthers original.  Pish.

  11. I'd personally prefer we just mastered the 4-4-2 for now. Something smells a little tactically naive about 4-3-3 and while it pays great service to the demands for attacking football you have to be able to ensure you can control a game as well as run about like schoolboys looking for goals. I fear we will get out muscled in midfield by too many big teams who will play a dull but effective game against us. Huns, Hearts and UTD will all out box us if we play a sloppy 4-3-3.

Each will have their own opinoon on this one and if it's good enough for Man U and Arsenal, it's good enough for the dons...besides everyone knows we've better players anyway  ;)

In summary, I wouldn't judge the 4-5-1 formation based on JC's application , just like I wouldn't judge Portugal as a bad family holiday destination based on the McCann's application.
