  1. Samon is just that a bloody salmon. He is a crap footballer which our shocking and inept defence made look like a footballer. He has a worst first touch than Mackie but he has a bit of strength to put defenders under pressure.

That lad wont score an easier two goals or play against a more unorganised defence or a worse goalkeeper in his entire career, even if Killie are drawn against Spartans at home in the Scottish Cup!

  2. I would have to side with Stoney here. I'm also of the opinion that we require 5 or 6 new players of a decent standard. A good striker to play with Miller in my opinion is a must. Cant rely on Miller soley for our goals. Mackie and Maguire just aint up to the task in my opinion. Miller also picks up stupid bookings here and there so no doubt he will be suspended at times and also injured as he takes a fair share of whacks from the opposition. I would also even consider a loan deal for a striker or even two!

I would also like to see three defenders come into the club, a centre half, and a left and right back. What happened with McNamee??? Did he opt to stay with Coventry?? He would be ideal for right back and Mulgrew or similar for the left back berth. Onother left sided player should be a priority as well to give the side a bit of balance especially in the midfield.

  3. Maybury should have been binned weks ago. A mediocre player who couldnt lace Michael Harts boots. If Hart had been offered what Maybury was paid we wouldnt be in this position anyway. Hart wanted to stay and would have stayed if he was given a fair wage.

Identify a new right back and move on please. Fed up with this ex-jambo holding us to ransom.

  4. This lad looks as though he can finish alright. I would quite happily take a chance on him. He did very well on his international debut as well so I would be confident that he can make the transition to the SPL and continue to score goals if given the chance.

  5. Its really quite worrying that we cant secure the services of a mediocre Dutch player over a tiny Dutch team. This stinks of the days Rougvie left for the sake of £20 per week when the penny pinchers wouldnt raise the bar for him.

Bakens looked fairly decent going by yon YOUTUBE clip. And his runs from defence looked like fun. He was solid in the air and his tackling looked superbly timed as did his freekick taking skills. Granted it was only a YOUTUBE clip and if you tried hard enough you could possibly put enough footage together to make Mackie look like a magic stiker.

Bottom line is, I'm worried where JC takes us from here in terms of a central defender. It was only last week that he was saying Bakens could be our Rob Jones, then a few days later saying "hes not worth the money he wants"???? Something doesnt add up.

Can somebody please confirm that Scott Wilson has signed for somebody and not still available please???

  6. As much as it pains me to admit it, Derek Young has been far from the worst Don in the starting 11 for the past few weeks. He merits his place and IMO has been a positive for us. Young took so much abuse from the fans, me included that I think its a credit to his character how he has played.

If Lee Miller put in a quarter of the effort and running that Young puts in he would have scored and created alot more than he has so far this season.

As for Calderwood, he is still an idiot and the sooner he is punted the better for AFC.

Why is it whenever Derek Young is mentioned people say he gives 100% or he never stops running or what an effort he puts in..

For gods sake what we want to here is how good a bloody player he is

effort, running and giving 100% i could do that...

He is not good enough for aberdeen and thats it (im not having a go at him i actually feel sorry for him being put in the position he has)

Well you name me a more deserving player over the last few games? I cant think of any. If he puts in the effort and is far from the worst player then he deserves to keep his place untill such time as he is ousted!

  8. Murray signed a new deal at Bristol.

Sutton is too similar to what we already have in Wheelchair Brewster and Miller.

Balde is not required. We do not need any more defenders at the club. We have Hart, Diamond, Considine, Kurrant, Mair, McNamarra, Byrne (haha) Touzani, Seve and Foster can also play in defence with Clark also having played at both left and right back! Thats 11 players if I'm not mistaken. That said I happen to be a fan of Gordon Greer who is available on a free!

I still think we should hav moved for Dargo. A free agent with a dam good goalscoring ratio and a very good finisher. Still dont think Leven has been fixed up with a club yet.

  9. Aye, how come JC aint using his contacts for friendlies?

JC. "Hello Sir Alex, fancy bringing yer reds up for a wee knock aboot at Pittodrie?"

SAF. "Aye nae bother my Govan brother how does a week on Tuesday sound, gee Ronaldo a chance to get over his knock?"

JC. "Sounds awright, but dont bring that hacking barsteward Scholes though!"

  10. i think that JC has just tried to sign the best standard of freebie he can get, then i think he is going to worry about who he plays where?

i hope we dont live to regret that......as it really was left sided players we needed to be signing but he hasn't seemed to have even thought about that?

also all this chat about playing smith through the middle we are already strong enough through the middle of the park with Seve, Barry Nicholson and Chris Clark in midfield as well as the 3 strikers and Brewster.

I take it you never watched Aberdeen much last season then!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :o :o :o

We are terrible in midfield, completely powder puff and totally over run in any midfield battle.

  11. no change

still a pipe dream and afc have no realistic back up plan for when the council tell us (rightly) to fuck off

    Why rightly?

Abit of forward planning and vision and a Community stadium could be of great benefit to Aberdeen as a whole. Football, Rugby, Athletics, Training Facilities, Gyms, and you could also incorporate many other leisure facilities with a bit of forward planning. Bowling, cinemas, etc.

  12. Well said Armani81. Who gives a flying fuck if he's from Glasgow? Have you seen the number of reds who travel to the games from the Glasgow area??!! HEEEEAPS! I've known a number of Dons fans who've got stick at Pittodrie because of their accent. For fuck's sake, they're standing cheering the Dons ... in the Aberdeen end ... and other Dons fans are giving them stick cos they don't have a doric accent??!!! What the fuck is up with that??

You can't choose where you are born. But you CAN choose who your loyalties lie with. I think that matters a great deal!!

Haha, I can better that, I got attacked from behind and punched to the ground about 6 years ago crossing the golf course going back to my car all because I'm a "weegie"! We had just been humped by Celtic and Pepper got sent off after about 2 seconds and some knobber decided because of my accent I was a tim. Wrong!!!

Anyway back to the thread, I think Nicholson has been inspirational since being moved onto the right hand side of midfield. Prefer Bazza Nic on the right and think he tends to be over run in the middle of the park.

  13. Assuming that Cellic win the cup we will be entering the Uefa Cup on September the 20th with the 2nd leg on October the 4th. If Dunfermline win the cup we will play 1 qualifier with the 1st leg on August the 16th and the 2nd on August the 30th.

    Sorted!

  14. Donslegend - " We have got a major investment coming our way and i'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned in the papers yet, but we have to be careful we don't rock the boat and spoil what hard work has been done so far."

What's this "major investment coming out way"????????

Heard zip about anything like that, I'm intrigued....pray tell..........

Mad Vlad is expanding northwards!! :D :D :D

  15. I have always liked Leven. A decent worker and a good left foot. I have never noticed he has no pace but my mate assures me hes slower that a week in the jail!

I would entertain him at Pittodrie, better calibre of player than Dempsey and Clark.

  16. jamie langfield is not a premier league goalkeeper ... He is dire and must go ..... he has lost us many points this season, once again aberdeen have bottled it in weegie land and it would not surprise me if we get humped from the huns again next weekend...

calderwood has given jobs to dunfermline rejects and they are not worthy of wearing the colours of afc.. Langfield must go for a start of a mega clear out of pish players we have got at pittodrie

    Shut up you complete dick!

Langfield was not at fault for any goals today and indeed had a fine game with a couple of great saves. No goalkeeper would have held the ball for Celtics opener and many would not have even saved it. Put your effort into supporting the Dons not slating a man who had a great game. Langfield may have cost us a few points but he has also saved us a few so get a grip. Goalkeepers are easy targets but he is by no means our weakest link.

Midfield today were again non existant.

  17. If Manamana is what's available in pound stretcher, then perhaps we should shop there more often.

If it's a season or two we are expecting out of him, then I'll be happy. We only got a season and a half out of Peter Kjaer, but WOW what an asset he was to us in those couple of seasons! As BobbyBiscuit says, Manamana is a seasoned pro, and a mobile one at that too! He may not be able to keep up with our defence, but he can certainly still do a more than adequate job against most the SPL's strikers ... with probably only the likes of Naesmith being the sort of player who may cause him any sort of pace-problems.

I hear what you are saying Reekie, maybe I didnt word that the best! I was just stating (or trying to say) to the poster above that we have feck all financial resources and we cant look a decent gifthorse in the mouth.

I happen to think that McNamara would do more than a decent job and I would like to see him in red as he will be an asset.
