What to do with £1 Million

Recommended Posts

Welllll....

Fulham have not re-signed Tomas Radzinski.  No transfer fee there. Would probably replace Miller & Brewster with 1 guy.

Any takers?

We managed to vanish about 20 million quid with feck all to show for it.

We'll be lucky if a million quid gets us a funny hat and a T-shirt fae Blackpool.

To be fair to Paterson, he didn't even put a scratch in the debt. The debt was partly caused by signing the likes of Hignett, Pepper, Kiriakov, Bernard, Gilles, O'Neill, Newell, Tzvetanov et al and paying them way, way over the odds. And then having Ebbe pay the likes of Fergus Tiernan 2.5k per week, on top of spending a million on Solberg, Zerouali and the like. 30k here and there for Pele's transfers were small fries compared to this.

Hignett was a bad signing because we had to pay him a huge signing on fee, then 8k per week, and then a rumoured 300k golden handshake when he left. If we actually saw a quarter of the fee we had paid for him then I would be very surprised.

Signing bonuses are common in pro sport over here.  Even with £300K of his transfer out fee going to him the club were still up £500K.  How much was his signing bonus? (lol - please say less than £500K)

Sorry Drewsome min. But the debt was clocked up long long before "Pele" Paterson (more like Pogo Paterson fae Grange Hill!) arrived at Pittodrie.

As huge a fan as I was of Ebbe, he spent big-time! He was the best-paid Aberdeen manager ever when he signed for us. Even after taking his pay-cuts, he was still on more than Aitken or either of the Millers were on.

But it was Roy Aitken and Alex Miller's big-spending that crippled us. Whilst Aitken did crazy things like spend close to £5million on transfers to bring in the likes of Kiriakov, Tzvetanov, Bernard and Gillies, Miller went one better and placed those losers on massive wages.

The pair of them tried to match the Old Firm's spending using a club whose income was less than a tenth of what either of the Old Firm took in on rainy days.

Zero earned his pay.  Tiernan never came close. Some would agrue that Langfield has yet to earn his.  With Ando gone we definitely need better

I don't think Zero earned his pay. For all the time he was at the club, how many times did he actually turn it on?  He was a poor team player who should have been shown the door after his petulance at the 2000 Scottish Cup Final.

If rumours down here in weegieland are correct, 33-year-old Tomas Radzinski will be joining Rangers on a free transfer today!!
