  1. Oh dear, not looking too good for Spurs. This could get messy.
  2. Forget it BB, I'll find others to talk to.
  3. You missed my point with the punching above their weight suggestion. The team is clearly not get the percentage of funds the club makes when you compare it to others at the top end of the PL, in that respect are they punching above their weight? Should the fans expect more when the investment in the team isn't their? Talk tough and call people stupid all you like, by doing such things it overshadows what could be a decent post. Now stop the sniping and then we might be able to have a debate. And finally the current Man U team is nowhere near as good as they have been in the past and part of it is down to the high standards previous league winners have set. Arsenal have had a wayward season yet are still within touching distance of Man U, if they were better than average then they would of had the league done and dusted.
  4. Yeah ended up downloading it from iTunes minj, pretty good. I'd say I prefer the Vaccines album over the Strokes but only just. Anybody got any gems they they can recommend, in the mood for getting into some new bands as I'm getting bored of some of the usual old stuff. Anybody listened to much of the Brian Jonestown Massacre other than Straight Up and Down? Sound like an interesting band.
  5. This is the comment I disagree with, manc you have a head on your shoulders and talk sense but the above is utter balls. Arsenal have a long way to go, in no way am I disputing that. I get as frustrated with Wenger as many others who follow Arsenal do and sometimes do wonder if change is needed but realistically who are Arsenal going to get in who would do a better job and wont be seen as a risk? Every transfer window Arsenal and Wenger come out and claim there is money to spend, they might have the funds to buy a couple of players at a combined cost of £20m but they can't compete with the fees paid by Man U, Man City and Chelsea. They are doing things the right way though, they have a structure in place and they will not break that structure although as I said it is frustrating. The one thing I feel positive about is when I hear Platini insist he will come down on clubs who are operating outwith their means and are carrying massive debts. I hope this sways the balance of power back Arsenals way but fear it will have no effect and Arsenal continue to be left behind. Hears a question, are Arsenal punching above their weight? You look at the money spent in the PL over recent years and Arsenal would be well down the list. They also have a wage policy so I would imagine their total wage bill would also be further down the list. How long can a club be expected to consistently place higher in the league than they may be expected? Does the fact that they do indicate how well Wenger is doing? Coming back to the here and now and I would say that Arsenal need a major re-think. They need a dependable left back, a centre back (assuming Vermaelen comes back eventually), another tough midfielder, a left sided forward and a dependable striker. They have all of the above but they are not consistent. On their day the likes of Clichy, Diaby, Arshavin and van Persie are as good as anyone in the PL but they don't show it every week. It seems to me when they are good they are brilliant, when they are poor they are rank rotten. Man U have been consistently average this season but with that they have ground out results where as the other 2 challengers have blown hot and cold. Still a long way to go in the PL, I wouldn't be conceding anything yet as Man U are a side their for the taking but it's whether anybody has the believe to rip the title from them, I have my doubts.
  6. Well I did think I could have a reasoned debate about the top end of the English PL but the completely blinkered views of some have ruined it. I'll come back when all sides can be viewed without tinted glasses being worn. PS, maybe Man U isn't a 'poor' side but they are far from good especially on the eye.
  7. Again not a gig but the next thing I have tickets to see is Uncaged Monkeys at the Music Hall, Professor Brian Cox amongst others will be speaking.
  8. I think Wenger has a winning philosophy but is just does not work at Arsenal at the moment mainly because they don't have the funds to bring in the players he would need to make it work. I get so frustrated with Wenger at times because he team are infuriating to follow but then he is effectively working with 1 arm tied behind his back. Until the Emirates is paid off Arsenal are going to struggle. Saying all that Wenger refuses to change the set up of the team depending on the opponents, I can't see the logic in playing the same way against a team like Chelsea as they would against say Wigan. It's a poor Man U team who are looking like winning the league easily, it might be a poor team but they have the best manager in the PL.
  9. This Arsenal team are a bunch of gutless wannabes. Most of them have done nothing in football yet they think they can just swagger onto a football pitch and expect to win games. Their work ethic is a disgrace and it all stems from the manager. Wenger will not slate his team and sometimes players need a good kick up the arse even if it is done in public. They need to know what is expected of them and if they do not reach those standards then there will be repercussions. Things aren't helped by Cesc Fabregas making it obvious to everyone his mind is elsewhere and we all know where elsewhere is!! So called senior players like Van Persie should be leading from example but as usual he's nowhere to be seen when it matters, probably why he has done nothing of note in his career up to now (he was poor during the WC even though his team did reached the final). Many Arsenal fans must of been dreaming of winning at least 1 and probably more trophies this season after somehow beating Barca at the Emirates, now I think they will be lucky to finish runners up in the PL.
  10. The 2 albums getting the most air play with me are Elbow - Lets Build a Rocket Boys! and The Vaccines - What Did You Expect From The Vaccines? Enjoying both. Trying to decide if I'll download The Strokes new album from itunes today or wait till I get home and download a schneider. Anybody listened to it yet? What's your thoughts?
  11. What a poor poor game up to now. We've probably looked the more likely to score but it has been hard viewing. Both teams have struggled to string more than 4 passes together.
  12. Just read the chapter in Willie Miller's book 'The Don' which described both of those night, you older guys are lucky to have seen nights like that, the closest I've come to nights like that was the run in Europe a couple of years back and Torino back in the early 90's.

I didn't mind the ending, it was the girl who pissed me off especially in the first half hour. As for Scum, good film which puts it's message across well.

Watched the Kings Speach last week and have to say I really enjoyed it. Watched Pulp Fiction start to finish for the first time in a couple of years, utterly utterly brilliant. I still find myself watching it hoping they change the scene when Bruce Willis kills John Travolta and that Samuel L. doesn't let Tim Roth and his bint get away. As for Shutter Island I just didn't enjoy it, I got the film but found myself bored early on and didn't get into it after that.
  15. Just bought 2 tickets today, never seen him before so looking forward to it. Might see you there Jager, you taking your cousin/bird?
  16. Other than Alex Song and the full back Arsenal don't really have a player to go wading in nailing folk. As small as it may seem I think the early yellow card for Song changed game a bit as Arsenal's main ball winner couldn't go in as strongly as he probably would of liked. As it was a very good result for Arsenal and it's about time someone beat those mouthy little fuckers. The way Barca play is sublime, could be the best team ever. The way they complain to refs and fein injury when challenged is a disgrace and rather spoils such an excellent team.
  17. For me tomorrow is a massive game for Craig Brown, a win or even a good performance will give the fans belief that it wasn't just a honeymoon period we experienced before the run of games against the tic, it was actually the beginning of the times changing A loss and a poor performance will have the sceptics out that we're just as bad as we were pre Christmas. Come on Craigy boy, I for one believe you have already turned things round and we will now going to places like Perth and win well.
  18. Yeah read that too, still the way it was worded makes me think he'll probably only miss one match. Fingers crossed.
  19. There's a lot of huns down near Stranraer so there's the potential of them being closet huns!! Anyway as stated before, it's more exciting if you follow a team in a certain league and since we have so much English football on TV it makes sense to follow a team just like if you followed a Spanish team or a team in the NFL or NBA.
  20. But if he only misses one game then I believe we can live with that, too often we have players out for 3 weeks or more and that's when it can really have an effect as the player will take time to get up to pace. We've not exactly been very lucky with injuries especially central midfielders.

Watched a film called 13 the other night, what an absolute pile of steaming shit! I can't believe Ray Winston, Jason Statham and Micky Rourke agreed to not only appear in this but play backing roles! The lead role was played by the guy who was Ian Curtis in Control, his performance was pish! Looking back there could have been some real potential, apparently it was a remake of a French film and I'm in no doubt the Froggies will have done a better job of it.
  22. I am STILL fighting my way through An Utterly Impartial History of Britain but I find myself getting so pissed off with the author I put the book down and wont touch it for days. Going to make a real effort to finish it this week.
  23. Some neat peices of skill from Diouf in the first half. I kind of secretly wanted Diouf to score today. Yes yes it's a horrible thing to think and I do feel dirty for it but I work with loads of Tims and they have been unbearable this week.
  24. Wait until you see Phil Dowd's performance in this game, beggars belief!
  25. I only gave 1 link. Anyway I don't think it's online, only page I could see on it says BBC Scotland only. Hope it's on though.
