  1. bobby totally agree about the directors and their financial experience. But Miller surely should have stepped in and anticipated theproblems on the field a lack o money and time would cause. I know we are only 2 games in but thats us out of Europe and less money again next year. Mini - granted setanta has not helped but I dont think that is the reason we suffered our heaviest ever european defeat. Anyway I truly hope I am wrong (it certainlywould not be the first time) and it eventually turns out to be the best decision in our recent history.
  2. bobby. I agree with you that that is millers role in general. Ofcourse its the managers job to sign players etc and i am not suggesting miller should have signed players when we were managerless. What i am saying is that someone at pittodrie decided to spend a fortune swapping a management team over, who were performing reasonably, on the field at least when we clearly could not afford it. Miller then as director of football has a role to play. He has to have the foresight to know we will need strengthened and money will be required and make that patently clear to non football directors. In my view he failed miserably. He should be held accountable
  3. totally agree with your last post does dave. Which was basically the point of the original post. Who is to blame for letting that happen? I say miller more than the rest hence my post
  4. dave well what would you suggest doing? Nothing? Dont offer your opinion and let apathy rule? Someone is to blame and lessons need to be learned so it does not happen again.
  5. re bobby biscuit. Apologies dont know how to quote. Computer fucked! Ha. Ofcourse the board are involved in the decision but miller, as director of football, should know where we need strengthed etc and how much that is going to cost. Thats his job surely? So if we have x amount and we spend x amount on changing managers and we now have the square root of fuck all in the way of defenders. Whose fault is it? Not the new managers anyway. He is liable for the decision. If he had no input why the fuck is he at pittodrie in first place? Like i say nothing personal just debating this cause i think he gets an easy ride because of who he is
  6. Nothing personal but i just dont agree. If there is anytime he should be speaking out its now. He never said he wanted jimmy to stay, that is not true. He is the go between the board and the footballing side he should have known if we could afford it or not. He is director of football for fuck sake! You trying to tell me the board decided to spend all that money changing a manager that had just got us into europe all by themselves?dont buy it
  7. Not what i heard. Not that it matters. He is director of football, he should make the call and would be surprised if he didnt do. Why has he not spoken out? Since when has he been a yes man for milne? Not how i remember it when he got the job.
  8. Looking like the worst in a long series of shocking decisions in our recent history. I see the logic, i am no Calderwood apologist or fan and if we could have afforded to swap him for Mcghee i would have done so as well but we quite clearly could not. Tv deal etc no excuse. The likes of dundee united seem far less troubled by that than we do. Why do you think that is? Something to do with 750k spent on swapping managers? Dreadful business decision if not a footballing one. Legend or not, he must be held accountable.
  9. I am seriously considering not renewing my season ticket. Just cannot see how we are going to be anyway decent unless we sign players and quickly. Miller was saying that the money for swapping managers would not affect playing budget. Does not seem like that is the case to me? Plus we are getting the same tv money next season as we were supposed to get originally after todays announcement, so no excuses, lets get somethins done and quickly.
  10. ok so we get the same money we were always going to get next season as setantas higher contract was not due to start until the season after the upcoming one. so 2 years with less money. Its by no means great, but at least they were sharp enough to get this opt out clause for the last two years if required. At end of day sky and espn are not going bust so its guaranteed. . Plus from a purely selfish point of view its good for us, the viewers. 9 pound a month for spl, epl and more than likely pga tour is decent enough for this new espn channel.all old firm games on sky sports apparantely. . Games will be played sat lunchtime, sunday afternoon and monday nights.
  11. Please let it be true. I know its not though. Unless i missed stevie wonder getting a managers job down there. Foster is not a footballer. He is quick but has the positional sense of a kitten on speed and could not distribute a free paper. Pish.
  12. There has been something about the way the pitch looked since that night.
  13. aye i wonder how many people have bought season tickets. I will be renewing, no longer in aberdeen so will miss a few but will still sign up. Good point about first team squad. Perhaps it was inevitable.
  14. yes i believe third best behind the old firm obviously, but dont quote me on that. Certainly close to it. I think we conceded 40 goals in the league. Which is still too many in my opinion. I see what you are getting at though. We have lost cover basically two centre halves and a sometimes right/left back though surely? I would say we def need a centre half before anything. Otherwise we are playing diamond and considine with no cover. Considine, nothing against him personally, was horrible last year for most part and big zander was shaky at times too. Still think we have more options in midfield and up front. And no i am not saying all of them are good options but money looks tight. Prioritising must be done.
  15. Did not really see one post i completely disagreed with what i am trying to say is that i think the defence is more of a priority. It does not look like we have the money to sign five players, although there is obviously room on the wage bill. But getting half decent bosmans will not be easy. I would, ofcourse, like the midfield improved but give me the choice i go for the defence first. We should have enough options in top half to get by the first few weeks, until hopefully a tv deal is done and dusted and we might then be able to strengthen that. having said that, i dont really know who to go for.
  16. I meant mulgrew to centre mid, although my opinion of him there is limited pretty much too seeing him do really well there for the under 21's. Although i never expressed it well I was not suggesting going to perth or wherever and playing one up top, just think Mcdonald could do a job up in the hole and its another option. Basically is midfield where we need to strengten? I am not so sure
  17. surely we need to work on the defence? I personally think we need a left back, other than foster, allow charlie into the middle with psycho and stick mcdonald in the hole behind miller for away games. Then sign another striker for home games that is actually capable of scoring. Unless i am a retard, and undoubtedly am on occasion, is this hughes not a centre midfielder?
  18. i know you were only joking, as was i. Somebody must know something. Thats the hypothesis i am working on.
  19. sorry typo. But you if you like. Ha
  20. dont get mug time to bail about online and the papers are full of some dead pop star who may or may not have been a kiddie fiddler. Any transfers forthcoming? We waiting on a tv deal? No longer live in aberdeen so heard nothing at all. Slightly worrying considering europe is not far away? Not even any rumours that might be true?
  21. apologies. I am a nipple.
  22. sorry its not up to your high standards sharpie. Here was me thinking you were supposed to write your opinions about afc on here.
  23. here these cheeky bastards took two payments of £12.99 off me this month i have just noticed. Anyone else have this? Cunts! And what happens now? Do all my setanta channels just switch off at midnight? I like that espn america etc. Any ideas?should i just cancel my direct debit and see what happens?
  24. The tims will prob stump up but I reckon its bizarre its taking so long. Somethins going on.
  25. . . . . . never takes this long to agree compensation. Ever. My guess is mcghee is STILL holding out. If the tims dont cough up for Mowbary he might well still be their next manager.
