IMO - Miller was not in the game at all today, granted we were not an attacking force at all today, but under Jimmy alot of the time Miller would be involved in the game because we would continuously pump the ball high up to him and he would win the flick on(or free kick). Under MMcG he seems to be trying to play it on the ground more, Do you think this will limit Millers involvement in the game more ?? For what is worth I thought Aluko was our best player today and I thought Paton made a difference when he replaced McGuire. Thankfully Hamilton got a gubbing today and hopefully we should do them next Saturday, hopefully (work permitting) I will make it to that one Stand Free

I was at yesterdays game at Motherwell and what was strikingly obvious was that there are definitely a couple of areas in the team that urgently need strengthening before the transfer window shuts, but I don't know financially how the club are fixed to sort the problem and as usual I imagine the money to do this will be the problem. Firstly at Right Back - Foster simply won't do - I dont know what players are available but surely there must be better, I take it Alan Maybury has found a new club, if not I doubt the money is still available to offer him a deal. Secondly the team needs width and really need to find a decent quality winger to supply a decent service to our strikers - What happened to Adam Hamill the young Liverpool winger who was at Dunfermline a couple of seasons ago, I thought Liverpool were wanting to loan him out again and that we were being mentioned as a possibility, or why not see if there is any chance of Alan Gow from the huns, they sound like they want to bin some of their squad and he is well out of the picture, but I know that his wage demands would be the problem or what about Ryan Stevenson from Ayr, I thought we were interested in him and is he not a winger or wide midfielder ? What are everybodys thought on this matter ?

25 years ago today I was jumping up and down on my Mum & Dad's sofa (with their permission - it was a very special night of course !!) as an excited 11 year old. Tonight I will celebrate the 25th Anniversary with a large Bunnahabhain and savour my happy memories of the great night. A big thank you to Fergie and the team for probably the greatest night of my life ( I think it puts my wedding day and the birth of my daughter into pure insignificance !!!) Oh happy days !

The situation seems clear to me. From day one Maybury has impressed and is currently one of our best players. AFC hit us with pish like we are undecided and will wait until the end of the season to make a decision - What they really mean is that there is no way we can match the wages he is on/or expects to be on and all we can do is let it drag on hoping he gets no offers from any other club, and he ends up out of contract with no club and is kind of forced into accepting AFC's offer. Sadly nothing the fans say or do will change this fact and all we can do is wait and see. I actually don't think Maybury is really that bothered about signing for the Dons and would prefer more money at whichever club offers him it. Although having said that I would prefer him to sign for us as I think he is a damn good player.

Sorry Sneckie but I disagree. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion of course, but at the end of the day Queen of The South are a 1st Division team who have only gone full time this season, and in a Cup Semi Final which is being shown live accross the nation,with the carrot of a European place being dangled, if the players in a professional team like Aberdeen can not raise their game and use their superior skill & fitness to beat such a team then we have very serious problems which need to be sorted as a matter of urgency !

Its now Tuesday morning and I am still hurting like a bastard from Saturdays result, I take it everyone is feeling the same ? Luckily I am on holiday from work and don't have to suffer the abuse from all the huns & tims at my work. Is it not now the time for the board to get their fingers out of their arses and make a determined effort to get Nicholson, Miller & Maybury signed up as soon as possible also with some signs/promises of some decent influential/positive summer signings. All we get is Jimmy moaning about what this cup defeat has done to his signing budget. Fuck That ! C'mon Wiggy you owe it to the fans by way of an apology, fork out with some cash and try and make it up to us ! I get a lump in my throat and feel myself filling up ! Football can be a very cruel game and personally I can't think of another thing in this world that can give me such highs yet such lows ! My wife totally isn't into football at all and really can't get why it cause such changes in my moods and how it can dominate your life so much. I was at the game today, and have been to hundreds of Aberdeen games over the 30 or so years I have followed them, but today I experienced what was my most horrible feeling I have ever had as an Aberdeen fan. Like so many of us I really did think today would just be a formality and then Europe here we come, and when the final whistle sounded and the realisation hit home that we were out! My legs actually turned to jelly, I felt phsically sick, and SERIOUSLY for a minute or two I really thought I was going to pass out. It was a horrible fucking feeling !!! My feelings today ? I just want the season over and done with, hope we sign up Nicholson, Miller & Maybury and that the board push out the boat and we make some significant summer signings(in defence in particular!) and that next season is a good one. Is there still no further news on this matter ? This really pisses me off ! I know I might just be impatient but this newspaper report was dated 7th March and stated that Calderwood planned to get answers from the 2 after the Celtic game so he could start making plans, the longer this issue is left the more chance of more interest in the 2 players and we will definitely loose them. Also as K-9 pointed out in another thread we should make signing Alan Maybury on a precontract a priority before others move in, and as Big Al rightly pointed out we need to watch out for Harry Potter trying to take him to Tannadice. It always seem the way that Aberdeen piss about and take so long that they end up loosing players and giving other teams the chance to move in and beat us to players and then we end up with the usual dross that is left floating about pre season ! Come on Aberdeen give the fans a boost and sort out signing up some these players so at least we have a chance when Jimmy starts the rebuilding job on the team

I had the misfortune to be at todays game and this was probably one of the worst Dons performances I have ever witnessed ! The players looked as bemused as the fans at today's tactics (If that is what you call them Jimmy ! ). The defence was utter shite, but what can you expect when you don't play the same back 4 (or 3 or 2 !!) more than 2 games in a row ? Surely you just need to look at Hearts earlier this season to see how your team quickly turns to shite when you don't play the same Team/Formation more that 1 week in a row. It pains me to say it but our team has no spine or fight about it, not once did any of the players grit their teeth, bark at each other, roll up their sleeves and just get stuck in. It seems to be the same problem season after season regardless of who the Aberdeen TEAM or MANAGER is !! When is the last time we had a strong team with a bit of fight & spirit in it (and I don't count the 4 games per season against Rangers !) I don't know if anyone else at today's game noticed, but late on in the 2nd half long after their substitution Maybury & Walker crept quietly into the stand behind the dug outs in the corner as far a way as possible and sat on their own looking thouroughly pissed off and uninterested, at one point the ball went into the stand not far from Walker and he could not be bothered to even get off his arse to retreve the ball. It is easy to raise your game and produce a performance in a one off game like Bayern Munich when all eyes are on you, but your heart needs to be in it for the long haul Josh !! On a more personal note today was even more dissapointing for me, almost 25 years on from my own first Aberdeen game (at Rugby Park versus Killie) I decided today to take my 5 year old daughter to her first Aberdeen game. She was having a great time until the game started ! Don't think she will be in a hurry to go to her next one ! I can't quite remember the score in my first game, but by fuck I can guarantee the performance was not like today's. There was no way players like Miller, McLeish, Leighton, Strachan, McGhee, etc would ever accept a performance like this from each other !!

What does everyone think about our chances of a top six finish ? Hopefully should win the next league match V Killie which will hopefully give us some momentum for going into the Motherwell game and getting a result, then we've got the huns game(a probable defeat) but then we go into our last 4 games with an achievable 12 points against the so called easier teams (Gretna, St Mirren, Inverness & Falkirk). This should get us into the top six and hopefully quite far up the league ! If it was only this easy ! It should be ! ......................... But with the Dons unpredictable form it probably won't go this way ! Christ we need to tighten up the defence ! Bring back Russell Anderson, it has got to be worth it ! !

If Jimmy was to be sacked, then Mark McGhee springs to mind but I don't think he would come and work under the current restraints, so I would probably go for Jim Jeffries as he is working with even less and seem to now and then unearth some right bargains, also I heard a rumour that Jeffries had verbally resigned(but then changed his mind the next day) on the night the transfer window closed after his board changed their mind and would not let him sign a striker from Airdrie, so it seems all is not well down there.
