  1. Too much hassle. Best just awarding the tournament to Italy.

  2. Hey mate Totally agree with you there. I like Dan Andrews. Scomo should be replaced and I feel he has failed Australians. The NRL debacle is a disgrace!! And as far as these selfish dickheads protesting, I hope every one of them suffer from really bad covid symptoms...not die...but suffer badly. I have zero guilt about saying that.

  3. I have to say that the Queensland premier has been really good. She's not been scared to put the state into lock down and we have had (so far...) low numbers of infection. Dan Andrews in Victoria has done well considering he was really unwell for a while. I would like to see him as PM one day.

  4. Think McGeouch could actually be an important player this season. Before Glass took over I was reading some American blogs to try and get a handle on how he liked to set up, and it appeared he was a big fan of one guy dropping deep and picking the ball up from defence. That was very much what Brown did against Hacken, at times playing centre of a back three, then pushing into midfield. Brown though I doubt will play 40-50 games this season, certainly not the full 90 minutes. It'll be a big ask to play 2-3 times a week, which at times we'll have to do. So he needs a back-up for that role. McCrorie possibly will be that man with Gallagher partnership Considine, but it's also a role that seems to very much suit McGeouch. The jury is still out on Ojo. Glass seems to be playing him in more of a forward role which essentially means he doesn't have to do all the stuff he's crap at - tackling, heading, closing players down. The guy I wonder about now is Dean Campbell. Not a fan of shipping players off on loan as I prefer they learn how to play in our system, but I don't know where we play him and Jenks coming in on loan pushes him further down the pecking order.

  6. Just back. That was top drawer. Some excellent attacking play. Jet and Ferguson were excellent. Considine and McRorie a good partnership, they didn't have a lot of support at times. Ojo did okay, but shouldn't be playing out there, he doesn't offer anything and will get found out against better opposition. Unsure of Ramirez, could go either way, but he'll be good with the fans if he turns out to be good. Some hit fae McLennan. Fantastic to be back, so much better than the tele.

  7. Awful patter from Tosher ”The Hacken goalkeeper has 2 caps for Sweden” ”Aye well ah’ve got 2 baseball caps ken but”

  8. You could be right Panda, but match sharpness is very much a thing. Even if it only gives them a slight advantage, it might be the difference between them going through or not. Depending on how good jenks is, your lineup looks decent. I'm not sure McKenzie is going to be good enough at left back, so Hayes there is a good option.

  9. The league placing is irrelevant, that's just polishing a turd. We were awful last season, we've been poor for three seasons, it's why fans wanted McInnes gone. Aberdeen's performances were bottom six standard. That the other clubs didn't take advantage is their own issue. "You make it sound like he inherited a total shambles." He did. He took over a team that couldn't score, couldn't create, couldn't defend, were being laughed at by fans of other clubs for the boring displays they put in, had no real desire or fight in the team, had games cancelled because players couldn't give a toss about breaking rules their manager put in place, and had a big rebuilding job this summer due to so many being out of contract. We were a shambles. And I think people are underestimating the job that Glass has already done before a ball is kicked. He's changed the whole coaching structure, signed six players, and already is dealing with both injuries (McCrorie at centre half surely isn't his first choice), disruption to pre-season with games cancelled, and one of his players handing in a transfer request. Aberdeen could finish in a European spot next season and still be a team in transition. We're not going to finish sixth, simply because the rest of the league isn't good enough. A poor Celtic still comfortably finished second. I'm judging us, and the performance of Glass, by our own performances, not about how many more points than St Mirren we pick up.

  10. Fuck the krankies. Listening to them say they'd support England and sing along makes the point even stronger that they're both has-been thick cunts. Well done Gordon Smart for answering: "It's about rivalry. I've got two teams - Hibernian and Scotland. I'm afraid I don't just then automatically support my nearest geographical neighbour as a result of us going out of a tournament."

  11. Schedule announced here. Playing Inverness, St Johnstone and Reading. https://www.afc.co.uk/2021/07/06/dons-confirm-closed-door-pre-season-schedule/ On another note, every time I post here I get a notification telling me I've gone up a rank. Any chance of getting rid of those - I know my posts are great but i don't need an award each time.

  13. HaarDon and Manic have pretty much nailed it on the head. I think a lot of Australians have had the mind set that what has happened in the UK could never happen here. But with this new Delta variant now spreading around the southern states I think many here will be in for a big shock.

  16. Jet was head and shoulders above Ramirez last night, he was excellent. I don't remember him giving the ball away once from a position that would have caused us trouble, although he didn't track his man at one point (which I think eventually led to their goal) but he was unexpectedly covering Hedges and wasn't prepared. The times he did give the ball away were when he was trying to make something happen, which is completely acceptable. We were very guilty of not trying things under McInnes for fear of giving it away. Many of the chances we created through jet last night would have been a sideways pass last season. I was unconvinced by Ramirez last night, but he certainly does have the potential to be a Rooney. His movement needs to improve a bit, but given he's on a new continent with a completely different game it'll maybe take time. He's about the size, stature and pace of Rooney anyway. Jet being there will be a huge benefit to him.

  17. Well those fearing a Sigma Olomouc repeat got the scoreline right. It's 80/1 for Aberdeen to win the league. Would get it on before it drops. Also, the final is due to be played in Tirana, but the stadium only holds 22,500. Surely we'll need to get the changed as no way that's going to be big enough for the Aberdeen-Roma final.

  18. Really good half. Great to be at a game of fitba, good atmosphere, the spreading of the crowd works a treat. Ferguson, JET and Ramsay looking good, Hedges and Considine as always. Fantastic.

  20. Well, that's what you get for not playing Hernandez...

  21. I'm gonna go with 3-0 Don's Double for Ramirez and 1 for Hedges laid on by JET. Glass knows what he's doing. COYFR

  22. Feels similar to me as well, but probably with slightly less chaos behind the scenes and we won't have Stuart Duff at centre back. 2-0 Hacken

  24. It will keep on getting proposed by them at least once every 12 months until they finally hit upon a scheme (likely involving some sort of inducement inbuilt into the scheme for lower league clubs) until they finally get what they want. It's all an insurance policy so that if/when the arse cheeks get invited into a new European or British league set up a few years down the line, they have a legacy set-up already in the Scottish league system to act as a feeder towards their "big" teams. And you can be sure that any progress limitations initially imposed will be wiped out asap after this happens and the colts sides will be allowed to progress to the SPL. I'm totally resigned to it happening, for me it's just when, not if

  25. I hate that phrase, it is just an excuse for being shite really. Glass got this job in March so has had four months to get his recruitment sorted, which is ample. The problem with calling it a transition season is what do you judge as acceptable? Do you fire Glass if we finish sixth?

  27. On Wednesday I asked Robert Wicks our commercial director to help me get something nice sorted for a friend who is a fellow Aberdeen supporter of nearly 45 years probably longer actually. There is a reason why we requested what I have. My pal more than anybody has tried to understand what it is like for me living with a two lifelong disabilities 24/7 nearly 42 years now. Whole thing has been processed and is currently in the mail on the way to my flat. Love how the club has assisted us over the years. Think my mate will be shocked but touched by what I've done. Wanted to thank him given a lot of people don't believe I'm disabled with left sided cerebral palsy and a 33% brain injury to boot.

  29. Haar, you would not believe some of the stuff I've had thrown at us over the years. My Mam was in labour for 36 hours with me. We arrived with both fists clenched on their respective side of face. I'm led to believe as a result of this some oxygen starvation, bleed on the brain, then stroke. As if you would deliberately choose a life complicated by said 33% brain injury and cerebral palsy eh!! A lot of my so called friends don't have a clue about our daily struggle. Always feel as though because they don't see aforementioned battle it just doesn't exist in their eyes and I'm milking the situation.

  35. The fucking BBC have re-hashed an article about Griffiths' playing ability and fitness to discuss whether his Celtic career has finished. You'd think that in the 21st century they'd fucking learn. He's a 30 year old man, alleged to have groomed an under age girl FFS. In what fucking planet should that be discussed as a function of his goal return? How good does a player have to be to allow grooming? How far can the grooming go before it results in a player losing their job? Does he have to actually meet up and have sex with the fifteen year old, or does this sports writer believe that he would have definitely stopped at the online grooming process? Seriously, if the sports writer guys aren't equipped to discuss these subjects then either train them or insist that they write only the minimum. Same goes with doddsy and co on sportsound who will inevitably make the same crass analysis. It's never fucking acceptable for a thirty year old man to groom a fifteen year old (the BBC states under-age). This fucking attitude will allow a club (us, perhaps) to think it's acceptable to hover over the corpse of Griffiths' Celtic career hoping to pick up a "good player" on the cheap. If the allegations are true, and there are no mitigating circumstances, then hopefully it'll be the end of his career.

  36. Disappointing. Better team won. A perfect example of why var is not required and adds nothing to the game. Imagine that incident occurred in Scotland with one of the scum? Who would define clear and obvious error? In my opinion that wasn't a penalty, but nor was it a clear and obvious error by the referee. But who defines that? If it can't be used tonight (correctly, in my opinion), then when can it be used, and why? What does it add to the sport? There's not been a single decision made in this tournament that has been contentious enough to warrant the stoppages, the ruining of the spontaneity and flow of the game caused by the abomination that is var. Why? Because the refereeing has been of a good standard. As it should be in every league in the world that can afford to implement var. I hope we never see it in Scotland, and I hope the TV watching anti-fitba fucks that arranged it admit they were wrong.

  37. I actually wish I was one of those people who could be happy for England winning a major tournament. For one, it would get rid of the mounting nausea and night terrors I've been experiencing at the prospect they might actually do it this time. But then I take one look at Jordan Pickford scowling and my brain tells me they should all be burned.

  41. That was a brilliant game between the two best teams in the Tournament. Italy should go on to win this now but injury to Spinazzola could be an issue. Doku for Belgium looked a player and didn’t deserve to be on the losing side.

  45. Depends on your outlook and I’ve commented on the negativity before. We were shit last year and have upgraded if you ask me. A lot of it is unknown which makes people nervous, particularly when you add the cultural difference coming from overseas. But I’d rather see that than the journeyman Scottish pro or an unknown from English league 1 or 2. That’s exciting to me. weve added another coach that I think brings more to our coaching staff. History of youth development , modern methodology, and a track record, plus new blood added to existing experience. From what I’ve seen, which isn’t much so I could be wrong, jet is better than anything we had up top last year and I was impressed with the little I saw of him. Would take him over kamberi. brown will be a clear leader and influencer in the middle of the park, although he is older so im not expecting too much. We’ve not had a clear presence in there for years. Gallagher is a clear upgrade in central defense, better than Taylor, and Hoban who fizzled out. Ramirez comes with a positive background and was capped by the US not that long ago. Russel has a connection with the guy, Atlanta tried and failed to sign him last year, I think he’ll be a good signing. I’d take him over Hornby or hendry. jenks sounds like a talented lad, I’d prefer to see him play over Ojo or mcgeough. we’re still missing a full back or two, a winger or two, and a number 10. But as I’ve said before, I’m optimistic.
