The Cup semi was a bad example to use though. We could have had Christiano Ronaldo playing striker that day and still gotten pumped such was the ineptitude of performance (the suspensions being the biggest root cause)

Can't argue with that, although I also feel the attitude of the players was underwhelming, largely down to the manager in his preparation surely? The very first basic going into a game like that has to be making sure the team are pumped and eager to get out on the pitch, didn't feel like that watching it, sadly.

You're not, in all seriousness, suggesting the difference in those games - especially the Scottish Cup semi when the entire team was atrocious - is solely down to Stevie May being signed instead of Moult/AN Other are you?

Yep that's exactly what I was suggesting but not "especially" the Scottish Cup semi; you chose that one as it was the easiest to make your point with, but the other two first and foremost. We were ahead in the tie against Apollon and went to Cyprus completely unable to hold onto the ball up the park. We were fucking about waiting for May to speak to the new PNE manager. We were literally one decent player away from getting into the group stages, it was the key position and we were easily good enough across the rest of the park. If it had been Moult, we'd also have not lost to Motherwell in the league cup. I firmly believe that we'd have built on that in January (we'd certainly have had some cash to) and not made the unacceptably shite purchase of Nwakali on loan for the massively important first team spot in centre mid (another example of where we've got it wrong for an important position by signing a fuckwit). Nor would we have been fucking about with Rooney on the wing as the other striker would have perhaps proven himself in the same way May has proven himself to be not that good. Thus the semi.

I certainly don't dispute the assertion that a striker would have made us a better team etc but to pare it down to "if we had Moult we'd have won those games" is far too simplistic. What the if the new striker had got himself sent off, been injured etc? And I emphasised the Scottish Cup game because no centre forward would've made Ball have a better game or sorted Arnason and Lewis out either.

Dons being linked with Stephen Ireland. Apologies for the source.

Recovering from serious injury so meets our main signing criteria if this is true.

Does he not come with a bit of bad attitude reputation?

He's also Irish, which is our second signing criterion. Good player back in the day but the guy drove a black and pink land rover didn't he? Fanny

Really hope this one falls through. Don't think he would be a positive influence in the dressing room and 5 games in 2 years suggests he's fucked. Would also push Wright further down the pecking list to the point where he might think that it's time to try somewhere else.

Agree with that. This guy is on his last payday and would not help our team to progress. Apart from they fact he is not match fit he would cause a problems in our dressing room.

Aye, feel it would hamper Scott Wright & even Frank Ross, on the flip side, would maybe help them, experience is never a bad thing. Agree also that he's made some fucking mental decisions, but we've always lacked our own lunatic. At the end of the day, he was a Premier League player, who fell away & is also Injury Prone, so he fits the bill no doubt.
