Crazy American Politics

It's not a few hundred, it's not even a few thousand. It's tens of thousands who lose their lives to guns in the USA.

Doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out that making guns illegal would reduce the fatalities.

This president can't even work out that a golf course in Balmedie loses five months a year minimum to the weather, the haar in mid summer wiping out a few days too so no surprise it's never going to be profitable. What was a surprise was that he could lose money at Turnberry too, one of the best courses in the world.

Given that he's been this close to bankruptcy and is losing other people's money (rather than his own), I wonder what qualities he actually has to run a country? It's a fabrication that he's a successful businessman. He's a ticket, a pawn in a sick game.

Don’t agree with making guns illegal. Drugs are illegal too but drug crime is massive. Make them harder to get, plus incentives to give up guns. I’d certainly ban assault rifles and the likes, flat out no need for those unless you’re fighting a war. America doesn’t have a gun problem, it’s a culture problem and the disregard for people and human life. Fuck knows how you solve it.

Is that Talking Heads David Byrne?

Actually I don't give a fuck about the Yanks.

I hope the good guys sort it out but I am happy to leave them to themselves. ( if only they could keep their noses out of everybody else's business)

It's a mystery to me why we are interested in them at all, a bit like the royal family really.

Yeah the same DB of the TH who infamously wore those giant shoulder pads when the fashion was in vogue. Asked why do you wear such a big jacket he replied because it makes my head look small.

Being interested in isn't obsessing over. Given their poisonous influence over the rest of the world, it's silly not to be interested in what's going on there.

The Royal Family can disappear yesterday. Fuck them.

Two schoolchildren died on Tuesday and 14 others suffered bullet wounds when a classmate opened fire outside a school in Benton, Kentucky. It was the third US school shooting in 48 hours and the 11th in the three weeks since the start of the year.

The victims were Bailey Holt and Preston Cope, both 15. A 15-year-old boy was arrested and charged with the attack.

The story fell somewhere into the middle of the day's news agenda. "Americans have accepted these common atrocities as part of life here," wrote one commenter on the New York Times website. "Another day, another shooting spree, and no political will to do anything about it."

But there is political will building behind a certain sort of gun legislation — reforms that aim to increase, rather than decrease, the number of firearms in schools and other public buildings, and arm teachers and school staff as a means of defence.

Hours after the shooting in Kentucky, Republican State Senator Steve West rushed to file a bill that would allow Kentucky schools to have armed school marshals patrol the site. His bill joins another in the state which seeks to loosen gun restrictions around college campuses.

Mr West's bill received cross-party support from state Democratic Senator Ray Jones. "We need armed officers in every school in Kentucky," Mr Jones said. "That is a small price to pay if it saves one child's life."

"The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is with a good guy with a gun,"

If only we were a bitty mair like America.

On an average day in average America, 7 children or teenagers are murdered or accidentally killed by guns.

It's nice to say that banning weapons such as the assault rifles and various hand guns would reduce gun crime. That is obvious to a blind man.

The second amendment is oft quoted by "gun nuts" as their "god given right" to defend themselves or bear arms.

The same second amendment has never changed since it's addition to the US constitution Bill of rights in 1791 when the firearms predominantly used were muskets.

It's bizarre that in over 200 years that this amendment has never been updated given how vague the wording in the amendment is and interpreted, by various bodies dependent on which side of the fence you sit on.

The obvious reason for this is that the gun lobby are a powerful head among the many on Medusa's scalp that is the USA.

If you go against them as a politician, then you'll pay the price in one way shape or form eventually for sure.

If you are for them, then you have a higher chance of being elected President, which shows the mess the country is in when it comes to this thorny subject.

We could ban guns tomorrow, but the amount of weapons out there and the power of the gun lobby means that it'll be impossible to enforce, enact or make a change to the second amendment.

Meanwhile..... the next 7 kids are being laid in their caskets.

Madness.

America is the ultimate corrupt capitalist country, money rules. The government is terrible, whether democratic or republican (nothing to do with Trump), and that's why the country is fucked. Gun laws won't change dramatically due to money, just like the medical field where money comes before health. It's a messed up place...

It's messed up for sure and until we read White Trash by Nancy Isenberg - one of the best researched books ever, a book I bought randomly whilst in a Contemporary Arts place in London a couple of months ago - we won't know why it's so messed up.

The history of the country has injustice, madness, hypocrisy and inhumanity written into its core. It's never going to change because it can't change. The DNA of the people includes badness.

As with everything, there is yin and yang. I believe that the reason why America has given us some of the world's best people and some of the best innovations in human history is because the default is so sick. The likes of Sweden, Norway and Belgium etc. are beige. They don't have great inequalities and social hardship on anywhere like the same scale and therefore they don't produce the same brilliance of genius either.

Surely population is a larger factor here? If you compared America with Europe, that'd be fairer. Ironically, the Scandi's brought us the first mass-produced machine gun, which the yanks love so much. So they owe all their child-murdering to the Swedes. I could be wrong of course.

Of course populations are a factor. India produced Gandhi. China produced Ai Wei Wei. Both of those geniuses were results of the oppression they grew up in. My theory or argument isn't population based but environmental.

I'm surprised that it still makes the UK news. It's no more newsworthy than another bomb going off in Afghanistan. The gun debate is so far removed from anything that the British public can understand that it's not worth bothering. Maybe armed school security is the best way to deal with a country that is saturated in guns? If that's what a country sees as their normal, then good luck to them. Fucking wierdos.

Apparently the school did have an on site armed policeman.

Who would've been 21 stone and more suited to this work having been bounced from police patrol duties. He spends 3 hours of his day in a neighbouring burger joint, insisting on his statutory right for breaks. 3 double burgers with cheese and bacon, unlimited fries and coke were going down his fat throat when Uber delivered Cruz.

So Trump's answer to school shootings is more guns.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-43149694

He has to be going for the insanity card.

On this one, he just says what 50% of Americans want. He didn't say anything that would have made voters think otherwise in the election, he's standing by his promises.

If Americans aren't willing to give up their automatic weapons, then clearly more guns is the only answer. If they're too stupid to understand their circular argument then they should just continue to arm up.

What's really insane is the proposal to arm teachers. If the problem has become so widespread that the only way to counter it is with guns, that is a refusal to properly examine the problem.

It's so lazy to say mental health without acknowledging the ease by which the state gives the opportunities for the sick to act through guns access. It's stupid not to understand the negative influence of celebrity culture. It's embarrassing to admit that the country produces people who's nihilism results in acts of massacre. It's sick that life and humanity has been reduced to zero.

When he arms teachers and trains them how to use them, not only is the irony rich, the sickness is embedded.
