  1. I am lead to believe that DM was involved in most aspects of the club, including youth development and there has been some 'problems' behind the scene with him and the youth coaches regarding youngsters getting chances, with one coach in particular unhappy with the loons not getting chances ahead of some of the shyte we have. I know that DMs involvement in day to day matters has been curtailed a good bit since the baldy builder stepped down as chairman, but not sure anything is being done about the lack of chances for our youth. You would like to think a club like ours would have good relations between the different coaches throughout the club from the bairns right up to the ones knocking on the door of the first team, but from what I heard it is not the case. I'm well aware the manager shouldn't control the youth set up, but should have at least an interest in it and work on strategies to get players blooded in the first team. Maybe it is time to ditch our youth set up and invest more in young talent from other clubs who appear more capable of walking into the first team or at least get the chance of it than waiting for our own to come through.
  2. One of the worst thing for Aberdeen under McInnes, was being in a league without Rangers, then Hearts and Hib were relegated and Dundee Utd were shit as well, so the second place place finishes enhanced his reputation during a strange period for Scottish football. He was very lucky he was the manager during that period, but I do acknowledge he still had to beat the other teams, which we did on a constant basis and did so well at times. Normal service in our game is upon us once again, with the only difference between now and before Rangers went bust in 2012, is that Celtic are far stronger than anyone both on and off the pitch, but we never took advantage of that period and built something more sustainable than we currently have, not all McInnes fault, a lot of it is down to his biggest cheerleader in Milne, but I do believe DM has a large say in youth operations and our return on that over the years has been quite poor, and I know I keep repeating it, but a huge bugbear of mine and the only way we can build a team required to at least compete is to have a strong youth policy to complement the first team. There is something far wrong if we honestly cannot develop players to compete in the SPL, can all these lads we sign as kids really turn out to be that shyte that they cannot match guys like Ojo, Bryson, Forrester, Gleeson and countless others who have had more chances in our first team than most of our youth ever do. I would never say McInnes was never good for us, because he was for a time for me anyway, but the good work he did at the start is all but forgotten now and as someone pointed out above, the only way for him is down once he does leaves us.
  3. No, he can't adapt/evolve in my opinion. He has a system and sticks to it with too much emphasis on not losing than actual winning. I accept you have to win ugly at times, but not all the time. I don't imagine we will ever be bottom 6 fodder under him but the turgid football on offer is reminiscent of a certain J Calderwood esquire, so a huge no from me. He also bleated for years about lack of training facilities holding us back. He gets them and we appear to look worse than when we did training all over the city wherever there was a patch of grass to lay out jumpers for goalposts.
  4. That's how I see it. We invest a lot of money in youth, but we don't see much of a return. I cannot include Ferguson or Cosgrove in this as they were signed as first team players and been afforded chances other youngsters we have would never get and I have seen both Cosgrove and Ferguson have horrible runs in the team, but still find themselves as first choices. I still reckon Sam is never a footballer, but has lucked out by having no real competition. McKenna was just lucky, he was out of the picture at the club until Arneson coming back didn't work out as planned and we were struggling at the back and has been our most successful centre back since. I think he is a good SPL defender, but don't think his level is much higher than us if being honest, but accept his still has room for improvement in his position and feel he has never had good guidance alongside him. Campbell I don't see it in him, but feel he is not played correctly by DM, same with McLennan, the lad is never a winger. Anderson needs a partner alongside him to play against and for that alone he will never make it under DM. I saw the RB who was on loan last season play well and looked worthy of a run, only to see Ronnie come in with a big fee and appears to impact the chances of the loon. All in all a pretty poor return on what is an spent on our youth set up and for me at least is the only way we can sustainably run our club as we cannot afford to buy 11 first team players and should be able to find Kids who can come through the youth system and make the first team. It's a big thing for me and the manager should be playing his part in it and for me, on the outside looking in, he doesn't trust our own youth.
  5. Me myself and I - de la soul
  6. Last season was enough for me, just the levels of boredom when going to games made me not renew. It is a fairly poor state of affairs that DM has got himself into a position that we cannot afford to get rid. To me it feels like he has become bigger than the club and we will fall apart if he goes. I think he has done good for us, but should have went after the 2017 cup final, as I think that was as good as things could have got for both manager and club at that point, bearing in mind we have a limited budget and the Zombies were always going to get a semblance of order back and compete against Celtic which is what our ex chairman always wanted I don't worry too much about life after DM, as not my job to replace him, but we are well past peak McIness. My only worry is what we are actually playing for now, best of the rest and an occasional final/possible cup win? I could be happy with that, but give us some entertainment on the pitch and get our youth set up sorted out so we don't always have to rely on other clubs untried kids ahead if our own.
  7. First time in a hell of a long time I have been so disinterested in a season starting. Season tickets not renewed for the season, because of the shyte football on display the past couple of seasons. Still want to hammer them today though.
  8. His game is overall quite poor, he can look OK in spells, but not the type of quality you need if you want to challenge for anything. Regardless of the goals scored by him, he is not anywhere near the class of of any of the above you mentioned. £2 million would be a hell of a return for a £20k outlay though.
  9. Did Neilson not get treated badly by Hearts when he ended up going to Franchise FC (MK Dons)? Seems a strange move and honestly can't see it working out well. Be interesting to see who the Joot appoint, hopefully it is someone who gets them relegated once again.
  10. I thought Leigh a decent enough LB and would liked to have seen him remain, but sad fact is we possibly cannot afford to pay a fee. Another season with Considine at LB beckons. Glad Gallagher is gone, one of the worst footballers we have had at the club and that is saying something with the gash we have had over the years.
  11. Exactly, he did OK, but didn't look as though he was going to be the next Jim leighton in the making. The fact that Del replaced him with another rookie when Joe got injured a couple of seasons ago told us all we needed to know, but then getting another two years out of us was a very strange move.
  12. Good to hear this. I thought he had a good season with us last year, though his falling about does piss me off, but i think that is coached into him. One more season with us and I would say he would need to move to make it to the next level and I don't mean the zombie club.
  13. 9 years at the club is a disgrace. It was clear he wasn't part of the plans the season Joe got injured and we got the lad Woodman from Newcastle, despite Danny doing OK in his two starts in goal., A decision I could have accepted if Woodman was experienced and was any good, but I didn't rate him much. Won't be easy for him getting fixed up with another club, but all the best to him anyway.
  14. Going on players I have seen play... God as captain. I watched the 86 cup final the other week and there was a bit in play when Tommy McQueen fucked up and I though Willie was going to do him. I don't think he would cope with some of the dross in our squad if he was playing alongside them. Bett in the middle to provide quality and have at least one midfielder who can can a ball Charlie Nic up front with Eoin Jess
  15. I saw someone wearing the new away top on Saturday and it actually looks worse than what you see in the picture. It is all down to the sponsors logo being added to it, in the way that it has. which make it look very cheap.
  16. An honest pro who gives his all in every gamne and would still add quality to the team and afraid to say it, but after being at Celtic for 3 years he may even take a winners mentality to the club, which is badly needed. I don't normally want players back after they have left, but I would take him, if we could afford him.
  17. I normally buy the two loons a top each year, but been advised by both they don't want either of them. I don't wear tops myself, something not right about grown folk, not usually in the best of shape, wearing these thing to games, but each to their own, just my take on things. The fact that two young lads who are Aberdeen daft not wanting either of these tops might be an indicator of how bad they look. I agree about the sponsor logo looking bad and looks very bad on the new away strip. Watching the 82 Cup Final on the BBC last weekend and not seeing sponsors on our tops was very refreshing, but sadly they are not going to go away.

    Coronavirus

Only an assumption here, but I believe that other COVID strains have never had a vaccine because it never hit the Western nations as bad as this COVID 19 strain has, so there will be more money and more importantly more of the the right research now being done looking into getting a virus vaccine, which I am sure they will at some point. As for Cumming, even if they do sack him, he will still be pulling the strings behind the scenes anyway until a period of time lapses and he will be back in the fold once again. The bigger problem we have is Bojo, his terrible cabinet and the many millions who voted for him in December and still would if we went again.
  19. It was a shitty situation football found itself in and an unprecedented one at that and being realistic there was no chance the remaining games could be played, so I'm OK with 4th. Overall this season we were mainly shite, even losing our ability to grind out wins when playing badly, something which we were quite good at during the reign of McInnes seemed to be beyond us this season, but we just never really clicked this season, but to be fair neither did the other teams which kept us in the running for the 3rd spot. For what it's worth I think we would have got 3rd, but just have to concentrate on next season now. I can understand teams being pissed that they have been relegated because of it, but because it is hearts I don't give a fuck.
  20. Watched the Brazil Scotland game too and first time I had seen a lot of these players in action. Decent enough game but neither team took any prisoners but no fannying about by them after the crunching tackles and they could play a bit too. Bremner got a head on him and it didn't seem to bother him much. A different breed if player back then.
  21. I watched the Sportscene programme about Aberdeen and found it excellent, but you have to realise I was only 6 when we first won the league in 1980, so my memories are vague at best of this period. You guys were lucky to have witnessed first hand how great that team were and a team which we will never see the likes of again. I doubt I will ever see us win the league in the flesh in my lifetime I remember the 82 cup final being one of the first games of football I ever watched in full and can still feel the anxiety when Rangers took the lead in the game and I have to comment that Rangers looked more dirty back then than they do now, something I never thought possible. In the 83 cup final I though Sandy Clarke was a dirty bastard for going through Leighton in the first half and also think Aitken deserved to go in the 84 final and would have been great if Doug Bell had got the winner from that cracking shot that came of the post and led to the McGhee winner. Was as good a 90 minutes of TV as any and my loons couldn't believe how good we were and that we weren't intimidated by the weegies. Hard to believe after watching that and seeing a young Tattie Cooper involved in them all and is no longer with us.

    Coronavirus

What makes it harder to take is the fact he was voted into power, first by his party and then by the electorate. The man is a clown, albeit a very dangerous clown who should not be anywhere near power. Labour should be exploting the current situation and hammering him and his party on their many failings.
  23. 30 years ago today that we last won the Scottish Cup. Where does the time go. I was just a plooky faced 16 year old old looking forward to years of cup triumphs, didn't work out quite as I had planned, but at least the plooks cleared up.

    Coronavirus

I had assumed incorrectly, that all people coming to the country were put in quarantine for 14 days and was shocked to discover not the case yesterday. I believe most other places, including the US, have been doing this for some time. Still plenty people seem to think the Tories are doing an excellent job of managing the situation.
  25. Why I watched it I have no idea, but just watched the 91 title decider on the BBC. :'( Was as gutted now as I was back then, but as a 17 year old I thought we would have many more chances to win the league, didn't really work out that way though. Even when 2-0 down I was still willing us on to get the equalizer. What a team we had though and to think we could have changed the game up here if only we had got a point that day. I wasn't at the game, but fuck it must have been a horrible place to be after that.
