  1. Frustration is probably the feeling i have about this campaign. We were just not quite at it. Competitive in every game and should have beaten this mob twice as well as PAOK. Thank fuck we avoided any injuries tonight though, looked hellish out there!

First time seeing Gueye, looks quite good at holding it up with the ball at his feet, despite the conditions. Duk has been complete pish, clearly doesn’t fancy it.

Milne good so far but bit concerned he’s been left isolated to defend so often, but then if it’s Rubezic who should be covering he’s probably best left alone.

Eh!?! You watching a different Gueye to me? Can’t hold the ball at all and is just conceding fouls all the time. Hard to judge if he’s pish because of the conditions. It’s clear he hasn’t played much as there’s zero connection with the others.

  3. I am hoping we start to see a lot more of sokler, alongside miovski, if anything to take a bit of pressure off sokler getting up to speed. I’d like to hope that had he had a bit more game time sokler would have scored that first effort. He along with RB is critical, as we’ve not currently got the cover so need sokler to be up and running by the time January comes calling. Think it’s fair to assume miovski will be off so we have to have another scoring striker. Doesn’t appear that it’s going to be duk this season.

    Mildly tropical here on Helsinki.

Temperature warmer here than it was when we got to Edinburgh Airport at 7am this morning.

    Taps aff lads 😂

Seen many other dandies kicking about? Or is the Scottish skin ensuring camouflage with the snow?

  5. Looks like it should be nice and cold for this one. No doubt the fans will have a suitable form of warming available to them. This really should have been the decider, gutted it’s meaningless, but pride is still at stake. Would be nice to get a couple of decent results before ending our euro campaign.

question is, what team do we play? Do we actually care and go with the regulars or do we throw in a bunch of reserves?

Bit harsh. I think it’s manc who rates him? He came here with a good record and had been capped/looking to get more caps for New Zealand. Was thrown in a little at the deep end, hopefully despite the injury he’s more settled now. I think that all means something. There was nothing to suggest from his past that Gurr was ever a player.

anyway, between Hayes and mcgarry left wing back is not a concern of mine. Think sokler showed today he’s worth a few games, I’d argue duk is no longer an unknown and opponents know more how to play him. Give sokler a run to get confidence and sharpness pre cup final and I’d run the two of them, he and miovski, at hampden.

I rate him going forward, but defending isn't his strong suit...Much improved over the last season or two so I hope it works out for him with us. We'll see.

Great to read Sokler and Miovski played well together, we've needed that partnership to be given a go. And actually use our squad! Will take the point, definitely a better result to wake to than I feared.

  7. The good thing is, is this is at home, so i'd really hope that we see some sort of positive response following the embarrassing shambles at Celtic Park before the intl break. how are folk thinking we will line up for this one? Will we see a return to the side for McGarry? Not really sure I want to be soaking up too much pressure against them.

Annoyingly, and as suspected, their manager appears to be competent so it won't be as optimistic as previous trips, but the home advantage (although I have seen who's officiating) should hopefully play in our favour!

I've heard nothing but good things about it i have to say,  looking forward to seeing it.

Saw Indy last week, really enjoyed it and it felt a very solid ending to the series.

Still haven't seen it. Not sure if it's on any of the streaming providers yet?

We watched War Dogs again on the weekend (didn't have the energy to look for something). Seemed quite poignant given what's going on in the middle east right now. It's not exactly a thought provoking film, but I'd no idea it was actually based on a real story.

    Progress.

Wild that this level of performance is acceptable. I was reading an unrelated news article (it was 3-0 at the time) by the time I’d finished reading it was 6. FFS.

My brother in Australia is struggling to get any sort of highlights of our games in the Group.

Anybody know how he can access the action?

Think it’s redtv or nothing. Maybe bein tv. I know they advertised having the games so a possible source

I missed out when he played in Auckland last night. A couple of mates went to see him though, both said he was just brilliant. He's a comedian id love to see. I've seen Bill Bailey, who is pretty good. Seen McIntyre who isn't bad. Saw Izzard about 10 yrs ago, he was rubbish tbh

Bill bailey along with jimmy carr seem to come down this way a fair bit. Will try and catch a couple more next year, just not fucking cheap!

  12. Was sure we had a thread about this but had no idea it was that long since we’d had a post on it! Some fond memories of this!

finally got to see Kevin Bridges live this week. Kicked off his tour down here in wellington. Funny as fuck, a lot of cry laughing. Was surprised how hammered the crowd was for a Tuesday, some good hecklers getting owned too. Good times.

They're two of our best players, we can't just bench one every week, we have to find a way to accommodate them.

I'd play Clarkson in the role that Duncan occupied v PAOK.

It's going to be a bit of trial and error, but they both add something to the team, and as well as Polvara has dove this season when he's played, both of them are better players than him.

I’m not doubting they’re better than polvara, but it doesn’t seem to work when they play together. So if that means we need to rotate a bit more then so be it.

  14. Can see us setting up formation wise pretty similar to PAOK, albeit, i'd expect Miovski and possibly Polvara to start? Don't want to see the Barron / Clarkson combo being tried again, it doesn't work. Playing two strikers will probably leave us short in the middle of the park, which is where we need numbers.

Not ideal playing them after their European pumping, as they'll likely want to come out firing, but they usually play like that against us anyway. If we can nullify them for a while and not concede some of the daft goals we've been conceding, then we might be able to grab something from this.

  15. Getting third in this group would have been result. I'm not overly bothered tbh. Yes, it would have been great to go through, but always felt that this euro jaunt was too early for us. We played some good stuff and a lot of grit and determination. happy with that performance and the subs seemed to make sense. I know some were surprised with Shinnie coming off, but we have a big game on the weekend.

Great finishes for both our goals, just our defence again letting us down with some silliness. Overall, proud of that. No mean feat to get a draw over there.
