  1. Whats that like? I was gutted I missed him playing at the Arches a couple of weeks back. Currently listening to the return of Grooverider on radio 1
  2. Ultras’ Pittodrie flags are banned Red card after Celtic flashpoint By Charlie Allan Published: 22/10/2008 COLOURFUL: The Red Ultras' display. More Pictures THE Dons today revealed they have banned flag displays at Pittodrie. Aberdeen have given fans group the Red Ultras – who organise colourful displays on match days – the red card after smoke flares were let off during last month’s SPL clash with Celtic in Glasgow. Club sources confirmed the ban was imposed in connection with an alleged incident at Celtic Park where a man was said to have used a ticket purchased by the Ultras group. The Ultras receive special privileges to get into Pittodrie early to lay out the card and flag displays which have been a feature of Aberdeen’s home games in recent seasons. That privilege has been removed until further notice. Dons spokesman Dave Macdermid said: “The ban on flag displays will remain until we decide otherwise. “We are not happy with what happened at Celtic Park and believe we have taken the right step to show that bad behaviour at games will not be tolerated.†The SPL take a dim view of fans carrying smoke flares into matches and have asked the Dons to explain why a total of five were set off during the Celtic game. Macdermid said: “We have already been fined by UEFA because a fan set off a flare during our match against Dnipro in the Ukraine. “It’s important we are seen to act and urge fans to remember it’s the club who will suffer if they don’t behave at games.†The Ultras responded to the ban by raising a banner at last weekend’s match at Falkirk with the words “Business as usual†printed on it. The Evening Express received a telephone call from a fan, who initially claimed he wasn’t a member of the Ultras, confirming the ban was in place. The fan eventually admitted he was a member of the Ultras but refused to give his name and promised to get one of their group to come back with an official comment. We are still waiting. We were also unable to contact Steve McCormick, who has acted as the spokeman for the Ultras in the past. CRAIG Hendry, 27, of Aberdeen, appeared in Glasgow Sheriff Court on September 30 charged with culpable and reckless conduct at the Celtic game. He made no plea or declaration and was granted bail. Can't say I saw the flare being lit, but thats a shame.
  3. Completely agree. My prozac led prediction of 3rd by December suits me much more though
  4. If only Wright was stood next to bateman, wouldn't half be the truth!
  5. When I saw the result, I thought the same thing As much as I disagreed with the decision at the time and probably still do. Glad to hear it sounds like we're starting to tighted up the arse end of our team. It really needed/needs to happen before we worry about scoring goals ourselves. Macnamararararara GTF
  6. Happy days, good result. Anyone at the game yesterday? Don't quite know how I want the derby to go tomorrow, I think a draw but if a win, I'd rather Hibs. I know we can claw it back on them, but Jambo's are too unpredictable.
  7. I really don't want to see him up at Pittodrie. One season wonder and this season has proved it so far. I don't know or care at the moment who else is out there, I still have faith in the baloon that is jimmy calderwood. At least till the end of December and I think the board will too, If things are still bad, then they will wait till the Scottish whatever it is called Cup to make their move.
  8. I thought Mair was shite everywhere apart from CB? Or am I missing something?
  9. I am indeed I will give you a call! Or are you heading back up North?
  10. My optimism is usually unjustified, rash and short lived, but I don't care I've just seen in the past two games there has been a big improvement in movement and approach to the games. The teams around us are no better and there isn't much between us and them. As I said, I've had dogs abuse at people for us being bottom, but I don't care, we will be back. We can do it. A good result on Saturday will help everyone P.S. I don't know where I get these crazy ideas from either
  11. Jimmy’s old protege Bullen vows to do his best to keep Dons rock bottom By Michael Gannon Published: 16/10/2008 ABERDEEN manager Jimmy Calderwood is in the middle of the most difficult spell of his Pittodrie tenure to date – and if Lee Bullen has his way, things are about to get worse. Calderwood has come under increasing fire after five straight defeats. The Dons are now bottom of the SPL and out of the League Cup. They travel to face Falkirk on Saturday and the Bairns will include centre half Bullen – one of Calderwood’s most trusted players for four seasons at Dunfermline. Bullen believes Calderwood will eventually turn things around, but is determined to turn up the heat on his former manager. Bullen said: “Jimmy Calderwood and the group of players he has at Aberdeen are well capable of lifting the club out of the position it is in, but I will be doing my damndest to keep them at the bottom of the league. “I worked with Jimmy for four seasons and there is not a manager on the planet who is not going to have a spell like this. It has been well documented that this is the first time Aberdeen have found themselves bottom of the league, but it’s situations like these which make you stronger and Jimmy knows that. “We had a sort of love-hate relationship at times, but overall I have nothing but respect for him and I get on really well with the two Jimmys. “When we were at Dunfermline, the team went through rough times as well. Aberdeen are a big club in Scottish football who have good individual players. “The performance against Celtic a few weeks ago proved that on their day they are good enough to match anyone in this league.†Falkirk have their own climbing agenda as they bid to get back on track in the top flight. Bullen added: “We know we are in for a tough game, but there is a lot of excitement around the training ground. Both teams are under a bit of pressure, but we are just two wins off the teams who are currently sitting in third place. That’s how close this league is. It’s so tight. Teams are producing results all over the place with the likes of St Mirren beating Rangers, which was a magnificent result.†Martin Hardie is on the road to recovery after being injured in a collision with an advertising hoarding. The St Johnstone midfielder hopes to face Livingston on Saturday but has been laid-up after clattering into a board in the Dundee derby. Come on you reds, get a win and lets get the season started! Points wise you cannot do worse than september!
  12. I'm pretty confident we can, don't know about the scoring a bucketload, but i'm feeling a lot better about the Dons now after the games against HIV's and Tim's. I've even gone as far as saying I think we'll be 3rd by December Its more tongue and cheek, but I don't see why we couldn't do it if our strikers actually start scoring a goal every so often. Anyway, COME ON YOU REDS!
  13. According to one of the guys on MAD who went along to the game, everyone had a good game, bar our strikers. He said Maguire covered probably every blade of grass with no effect, and there was little surprise from Wright in regards to why Miller never breaks a sweat over his place in the team. He also said Hodgkiss and de Visscher linked up really well. Maybe he's the best way to get JDV playing well? Having an actual footballer behind him? Anyway, good to see a few positives from the reserve team anyway.
  14. Would agree with most of what Maguire says, but despite these decisions, we are not creating or converting many chances. Therefore leaving us vulnerable to these SFA barstewards. Do the talking by putting the ball in the back of the opposition's net! I wish you every bit of luck!
  15. I'm trying not to dwell on this game. We just have to get it up the SFA by playing good football and winning games by scoring more than the opposition cunts. They'll be fucked then....Nice to see WM come out in the press against the SFA as well
  16. I read on BBC today that he has joined Oldham Athletic on a one month deal! (Richie Byrne that is).
  17. Agreed. Re other comments earlier in the thread, don't think Calderwood should be sacked on the back of this, if we're still where we are in December, then yes, but not now. I find it hard to get positive and up beat about Aberdeen at the moment, but I know this isn't going to last, our luck HAS to change. The team are good enough, and Calderwood has proved he can do it. I just wish they would all hurry up! Hopefully the international break will give them all time to reflect and a kick up the arse, because some of our team should be involved in the international setup. They have only themselves to blame.
  18. Fingers crossed, nice to have a good bit of news regarding AFC at the moment, despite only looking good as you said, in front of our first team "strikers"! But having said that, do our players not fly through training anyway
  19. I'd settle for that Guess we'll be able to work out by Christmas what sort of season we may have.
  20. Thought it was more of a Jambo cut Hopefully he'll turn good. Cannot be worse than that imposter of a goal keeper, Bossu.
  21. I was just going to correct you there Ajja
  22. Completely agree with that but its just very difficult to see where our next win is going to come from given our bad luck and our pathetic attempts at trying to win through possession. If we were to finish mid table, we'd then be lead the line "see where we came from though, this season was a success etc...."
  23. Was listening to your call after the game and someone actually made a very worrying, but good point, the quality of refereeing in Scotland is atrocious, but if we did relegate a match official everytime this situation occurred, we would have even worse referee's in control of our games. I still think though the persistent offenders should be punished through relegation though. If they know no matter what they do they will keep their position then it makes sense as to why they are so incompetent. Cunts, the lot of them.
