  1. I'm a bit hacked off though because supposedly the money from Ando's transfer was going to cover re-signing these guys. There's a comment in one of todays papers about how we're 500k up because Nicholson and Lovell cost us 500k and we sold Ando for a million - surely though the player budget can't be being kept low because we signed two reasonable players a couple of seasons ago?
  2. From my p.o.v. the Derek Young argument is the same as the Richie Byrne argument. I'll never slag anyone who gives 100% for the shirt, god knows we've all seen guys come in and look like they couldn't be arsed. Ultimately though it's a quality v effort argument, and at this stage we should be looking at players who will provide both, which DY sadly does not.
  3. If there's ever a time to give Hearts a doing its today. The tactical tombola (©TRA) stipulates that preferred result is a secondary consideration to "giein' ivraywan a shoat aw aboot the pitch, no?" So we'll probably start: Soutar Hart Severin Diamond Foster Nicholson McNamara Clark JDV Miller Lovell And at half time it'll be: Miller JDV Foster Lovell Nicholson Diamond Hart Severin McNamara Clark Soutar
  4. I always thought Nicholson was better on the right rather than sitting in the centre. JC was saying that this de Visscher guy can play on the left, maybe thats his plan and it'll be Clark benchwarming.
  5. I'd be happy with Touzani, Diamond or Considine at the back to be honest. The only way the younger guys are gonna learn not to make mistakes is by experience, and Diamond does seem to have been playing pretty well the last few games.
  6. Aye, I phrased my post badly. Be interesting to see if some of the cash could be used for this Ferrie bloke as well if he's up to the hype. I don't think the club wants to spend money on him. Course, cos of the lying agent thing, I forgot about that. Still need a player in that vein though, would be nice to see a bit of cash thrown into the kitty I suppose.
  7. It's a "gentleman's agreement" at the minute apparently I'd rather the wages were used on someone else to be honest, I don't think Brewster offers much except an experienced head in the dressing room, and if thats the case we should try and get him as a coach or something instead.
  8. If we keep him I'd rather see Lovell and Miller as the preferred partnership, really really don't rate Mackie. He occasionally pops up in the right place but how many times have we heard "Mackie must score..." then been crushed as he toepokes the ball past an open goal?
  9. Would depend if there was an option as a replacement, if we could make a bit of cash I'd let him go to be honest, as long as Mackie is kept as a backup.
  10. An ill-advised move yeah, but I don't like us making a big fuss about it if it was said light-heartedly. It makes us sound like huns complaining about being called huns, and we know we're better than that lot.
  11. Aye, I phrased my post badly. Be interesting to see if some of the cash could be used for this Ferrie bloke as well if he's up to the hype.
  12. Someone's saying on StandFree that Hart could be on his way to the jungle jims for 450k in the summer. Everyone's thoughts? Personally I'd like to see him stay, but if J.C. got half of that sum he could bring in Mair, Kurrant, McNamara and use the cash on a decent winger for the left hand side. Be pretty gutting to see him playing for those bastards next season though.
  13. We're still looking good for it I think, the LSC will be nervous and I think Hobs could exploit that. It could still go Pete Tong but the forces of good always triumph over the forces of evil.
  14. No real loss I don't think. To be fair though, the guy did not too badly coming on as a sub for us, went out on loan and scored goals, and JC expected him to keep playing as an amateur for us when other teams were showing an interest. Bit unfair on the guy.
  15. No I'm not retarded, thanks for asking. My point was that we need every point we can get, and when Hibs had eleven men it didn't sound like we were getting a sniff. I'd rather get one point than none. Agree the results a shocker given the level we were playing against but the teams been gash for weeks now. I don't know how you're going to motivate that side if the possibility of a European place doesn't spur them on: questions have to be asked about how gee'd up Calderwood gets them as well. "Aye lads, if you win we're looking good for Europe, but you know if you go out and play like you barely give a shit I'm sure that'll be fine too."
