Both goals were scored by Jon Daly as the Tannadice side threatened to go on the rampage. Daly's first strike exposed indecision between Charlie Mulgrew and Zander Diamond and their hesitation ushered the burly forward in for a powerful drive past Jamie Langfield.

Daly doubled his tally from a free kick wide on the right when he met Danny Swanson's delivery with a powerful header.

This turn of events triggered vitriolic abuse directed by some Dons fans at the Aberdeen, manager, Mark McGhee. However, his players responded and when Mulgrew produced a typically accurate free kick into the box for Diamond to plant a firm header beyond Dusan Pernis.

Aberdeen made it 2-2 when Sean Dillon, who gave away a penalty against Rangers in the Active Nation Scottish Cup quarter-final last Sunday, pushed Stuart Duff to concede another, from which Michael Paton made no mistake.

There was a lot of jeering at 2-0.
